GATEWAY OF INDIACONCEPTThe basic understanding of how crowd behaves around and on the station and how the MASS and VOIDS differes according to different conditions throughout the day and time, is studied. FurtheFurther, developing the study ahead, each of the spacial condition observed is represented through different materials (box, cocunut fibres, coirs, foam, etc.) which are unique in their own way. For instance, cotton indicating an empty state of com-partment wherein there is very little mass present and more of openness.Based on the above study, an installation at Gateway of India is designed which would suffice to most of the tourists coming there. The installation acts as a pause for different category of people coming there. The installation is flexible for different purposes.

FURNITURENMIMS UNIVERSITY 02The project is derived from an Emergent system- Bread

mold. The concept of Emergence is a bottom up system. The growth and the behaviour of an emerging system in nature is due to external factors like climate. It kind of forms a network of growth where one element is inter-dependent on the other. Change in behaviour of one ele-ment changes the netork completelyBread mold in this case is very fluid and organic in nature

The program here, is a twisted table, derived from a bread mold. It consists of varying sizes and thickness of rhom-buses for its structural stability. The structure is made of multiple cyclic spirals placed next to each other. One cyclic spiral has been demonstrated on right bottom. The furniture is anchored with thicker wooden pieces and smaller at the bottom and larger and thinner on the top.Larger pieces are housed with transparent acrylic where one an place an article and read. Also it acts as magazine holder and a flexible library

CONCEPTThe study deals with EXPANSION and CONTRACTION of spaces through constrictingVOIDS which is the nature existing within Khetwadi.SinceSince Khetwadi consists of a sight where the rich and middle class live side by side,it doesnot provide a comman ground for both the classes of society to come together. Hence,The insert is a PLUG IN for recreational purpose with transi-tions through green spaces within Khetwadi which would allow different classes of societies to come togetheto come together. It consist of a public library , green spaces, open theatre, cafeteria and auditorium.

CONCEPTThe fishing village which sits adjacent to vasai fort consists of the most interesting communities, demographics, living, etc.making the village very dense and compact. But the contrasting fact of it containing pockets within this dense and narrow village acts as a within this dense and narrow village acts as a pause and activity zone for the kolhi people living there.Further, keeping in mind, the mobile nature of

reasearchersreasearchers,a portable, flexible and transformable plane has been introduced and this flat surface can be folded and unfolded according to the requirement of the researcher. This observation of it containing pockets is used as tool to design similar pockets for researchers who come there quite often. Thus, the researcher has to just carry the flat plane Thus, the researcher has to just carry the flat plane and use the space as per convineance

CONCEPTA transitional space where people experience different sound conditions through different sound enclosures is created. Also the circulation is based on different vana-tages it provided. The hotel sits on a contoured site within Dharamshala to maintaining the serenity and culture of the place.

CONCEPTThe idea is to provide a personal /an individual space within the libraryThe building serves as a reading cell for an indi-vidual and a group and also includes cells like discussion and audio video screening

The index of colours defines the programs within and also enables one to decide which level one has to go.

The complete building acts as a floating city

VERSOVA 04Densities of activities on site(Versova)

has been observed.Further, each of the activity is looked at in terms of states of matter i.e. solid, liquid and gas.Solid state: state of compression rigid structure/behavior/more compactLiquid state: a balance state between compression Liquid state: a balance state between compression and releaseGaseous state: more open and release.

WithWith no exactness, the given programs (ferry terminal includes a maritime museum, curator workshop, con-ference room and some outdoor cafeteria along with green spaces) were classified under each of the above state(based on its densities)

A Manifestation of these densities in terms of folds is done, with which the demonstration of the idea of compression is made (which is more compact, closed volume)And further with the change in size of modules and geometrygeometry release of state is shown. The complete project starts with state of compression and releases/opens towards the jetty

04VERSOVA

The project is called ”Villas in the sky”. The project started with understanding non-standard architecture and reading “Tempest in a teapot” by Greg Lynn.TheThe project is based on sustainability and non stand-ard architecture. Passive Downdraft Evaporating Cooling system is used in the building. The building in-corporates varying sizes of pools and jacuzzis which kept the structure cool and naturally ventilated. Varying levels of pools created a public platform for the resi-dents to come and interact. Its also had sun decks at higher levels. Programs around communal waterbodies allowing for varying levels of privacy.

ThisThis exercise has been conducted inorder to under-stand the nature of stability and behaviour of forces. The joinery element inorder to create one module was rubberband and for its multiplication further, threads are used.

INSTALLATION based on POROSITYSITE:VASHI-MANGROVESThe landscape provides porosity and acts as a buffer or a “barrier” not allowing excess water. Also the lush green extent and water body around is a perfect spot for migratory birds.SiteSite Response: The main aim of the installation there-fore, is to attract and alert people. The basic program thus, is bird watching and relaxation space to rejunevate with the vibrations of natural habitat.Installation: Vantage to natural is provided by series of planes that acts as transition from land to water. The in-stallation constantly relates to land, water and fringe(mangroves). The secondary aim is also to pro-vide vantage to kohli community devotees and parking of fishing boats, thus involving local community in an active way.The installation interacts with the marine and the aero-species, quite literary, without actually harming the site.

Albert Einstein once said, "I know not with what weap-ons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."By bringing this up, we mean to show how, eventually, we will be brought back to a more natural way of living by one means or another. There is hope that people can make the choice for themselves to live in a higher state of harmony with the earth and each other before we are forced to a natural and helpless state via war or some other another disaster.Over time we have observed that manman has survived in the harshest of deserts and coldest of mountains as long as he is in agreement with nature. And The best way to remain close to nature is by adapt-ing the systems from nature itself. So, here we are adapting ideas from the sand dunes. The project highlights the fact that the city is and going to be more and more populated, chaotic and in a mess in the times to come. Thus we are looking at a scheme where the city fabric is duplicated on a higher level, with a more organic and sustainable practice. The urban dunes as we are calling it, is stretching the city and the fabric vertically creating sustainable living podspods for people. These dunes react to the wind and the sun to create ecologically harmonious homes which pro-duce their own electricity and are self sustainable. Thus this project attempts to unite the nature and the city fabric creating more urban ecological future living conditions!
