• Session Description

– This workshop will provide the attendees with tools and

recommendations for designing, operating, and maintaining a

Logix/FactoryTalk HMI system. A live demonstration on a running

system will show how to use the tools available to design your

system, monitor it's operational performance, and diagnose software,

hardware, and network problems. The system will include the 1756-

L7x controller, FactoryTalk View SE, I/O, a drive on EtherNet/IP, and

a Stratix 8000 switch.

• Application has 500 scattered integer tags

on scan using the RSLinx OPC Test Client.

– Before tags are placed on scan.

• Memory consumed = 487,544 bytes

– After tags are placed on scan.

• Memory consumed = 513,520 bytes

487,544 – 513,520 = 25,976 byte difference

or 5.3% more memory consumed by RSLinx.

Memory is consumed when RSLinx is

online and polling data.

Counter Monitor

• Snapshot files aid in troubleshooting by capturing diagnostic values in

an .xml file, which can then be sent to Rockwell Automation Technical

Support.

To create a snapshot file from within Diagnostic Counter Monitor:

1. Select File > Save Snapshot.

2. Select the location to which you want to save the snapshot file. The default

location is the C: drive.

3. Create a filename, or use the default filename, CounterMonitorData.

4. Click Save.

• Demonstration of the IAB/PSE – Integrated Architecture Builder/Process

System Estimator

– Open „New Project‟

– Select „Process Automation Workspace‟

– Name the workspace „PlantPAx Sample‟

– Review the Process System Estimator dialog

– Enter number of OWS, number of Conventional I/O, Process Instrumentation I/O,

Process Instrumentation Networks, Device I/O through Network Scanners in to the

dialog and then click „Next‟ to see the Process Project System Summary screen.

– Review the data provided on the System Summary Screen

– Generate a report and show the output of the report

• Discuss process characterization and how that is incorporated in to the

IAB/PSE tool while the report is created.

What is RSLogix Architect?

• Provides the control system engineer a single environment for the design and management of the control system.

– Simplifies deployment & management of systems with multiple controllers
