Registered Nurse
MAIN FUNCTION:Provides nursing care to patients in an efficient, professional, compassionate and caring manner. Directs the activities of paraprofessional as they provide care. Responsible for assuring effective communication with patients, support persons and members of the healthcare team. Responsible for implementing nursing care of assigned patients via the Nursing Process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. Acts in compliance with hospital, Nursing Department policies/procedures and the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Ohio. Follows CH Nursing Philosophy and practice model which are derived from the Synergy model and appropriate Service Standards as outlined in Employee Handbook.

Unit Specific Requirements:

MAIN FUNCTION:

Cardiac Cath/Special Procedure Lab
MAIN FUNCTION:
Also, functions independently in the Cath Lab/Special Procedures holding room and provides nursing care in a calm, efficient manner. Admits and discharges patients. Provides pre-procedure teaching and assures physician orders are done prior to procedure. Recovers post-procedure patients according to dept policy and accurately follows physician post-procedure orders. Assists in transferring specific patients to other hospitals directly from the holding room. Provides follow-up care by phoning patients next day. Provides nursing support in other areas if needed (CT for biopsies).
Keeps patients safe & calm while assisting physicians in cardiac cath/special procedures. Functions independently in the lab while using professional judgment in performance of services. Accurately & promptly implements physician's orders. Scrubs, circulates & records all cases done in the lab & helps to recover patients. Acts in compliance with hospital policies/procedures. Provides care to patients in a calm, efficient manner.

MAIN FUNCTION:
Collaborates with the exercise physiologist to prescribe and monitor exercise workloads and target heart rates appropriate to each individual during each exercise session. Monitors and records vital signs during exercise sessions. Communicates effectively with the healthcare team to monitor compliance and appropriately manage symptoms. Develops teaching curriculum in conjunction with Nutrition Services, Sleep Clinic, and the exercise physiologist including lectures, videos, class participation and patient educational materials.

MAIN FUNCTION:

Endoscopy RN
MAIN FUNCTION:
To assess, evaluate, implement, and monitor the care of patients undergoing GI procedures and those patients who are receiving Medical Outpatient Services. To assist physicians with procedures and monitor patients who are receiving moderate sedation. Prioritize the care of all patient populations.

Collaborates with Physicians to evaluate patient readiness for transfer out of critical care environment. Accepts med surg and telemetry overflow patients as necessary. Recovers MAC local patients when PACU not open.

MAIN FUNCTION:
Under supervision and direction of the operating surgeon, functions during the assistant role until conclusion of the operative procedure. Does not concurrently function as scrub nurse. When not working as a RNFA, works as scrub or circulating nurse as directed.
MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS: Current CNOR certification, completion of an RNFA program, certification by the National Institute

3 years diversified perioperative nursing experience both scrubbing and circulating proficiency

d. Applies principles of asepsis technique according to standards. Follows infection control according to current guidelines
Recognizes safety hazards and initiates appropriate corrective action
Applies knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology, and operative technique relative to operative procedure wherein RNFA assists
Performs positioning, prepping, and draping of patient
Provides hemostasis by clamping blood vessels, coagulating bleeding points, ligating vessels, and by other means as directed by the surgeon
Provides exposure through appropriate use of instruments, retractors, suctioning, and sponging techniques
Handles tissue as directed by the surgeon during the operative procedure
Performs wound closure as directed by the surgeon, sutures the peritoneum, fascia, subcutaneous tissue and skin
Applies surgical dressings
Assists with transferring the patient from the operating room
Practices within limitations of preparation and experience
Maintains continuing education relative to practice
Verifies correct sponge, tape, needle and instrument count with other nursing personnel in room
Labels specimens properly and takes to area for transfer to Lab
Women’s Pavilion
MAIN FUNCTION: Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, prioritizes and documents the care of the obstetric patients. Assists with labor, surgical procedures, mother/couplet care, newborns, and triage of the obstetric patient. Communicates the progress of the obstetric patient with the physician on regular basis. Initiates, interprets, and documents EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) according to AWHONN (American Women’s Health Obstetrics and Neonatal Nursing) and the ACOG (American College of
Gynecology) of patients. Prioritizes care of the newborn according to the American Association of Pediatric guidelines.
MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS:
Neonatal resuscitation required within 6 months of hire and must be maintained Demonstrate knowledge in caring for patients in post anesthesia recovery Completion of OB Recovery competency within 6 months of hire Initiate, interpret, and document EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) according to AWHON
(American Women’s Health Obstetrics and Neonatal Nursing) and ACOG (American College of Gynecology) within 6 months of hire
Primary Nursery Nurse- attend STABLE program within 1 year, and demonstrate knowledge of elevated nursery care
PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES 1 year hospital experience as RN

Wound Center RN/Case Manager
MAIN FUNCTION:Under supervision of Clinical Manager, performs primary function of RN in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patient in the Wound Center. Administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy and diagnostic testing of patients under the supervision and orders of a hyperbaric physician
RESPONSIBLE TO: Program Director, Clinical Manager, RDC
MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS: 2 years medical/ surgical experience
Completion of Principles of Hyperbaric Medicine and Wound Healing Course
PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES Wound care experience
Wound care certification
OTHER EXPECTATIONS: Assess, stage, measure and the photo’s of wounds accurately and in accordance to policy
Assist physicians with wound care
Implements wound care and HBO protocols when clinically indicated
Accurately completes the superbill and ensures that all orders and charges are initiated accurately
Coordinates activities with other disciplines (rehab, nutrition, diabetic education, home health, DME, nursing homes and other ancillary services)
Completes the 4 week reviews in a timely manner and initiates all recommendations to the plan
Fosters continuity of care between WHC and care taker (home, hospital, HH, etc)
Prepares for clinic to enable accurate and complete updates to the physician
Triages telephone calls and assists with scheduling
