As stated in the LeDoux book from the Davis Historical Encyclopedia of LouisianaDalicourt A. LeDoux, successfully identified with the rice industry in this section, came to his present location in 1900, and has devoted the majorportion of his time and energy to raising rice and cotton. Of the former, he has been cultivating mostly the Fortuna and Nira varieties since 1927,cultivating about one hundred and eight acres in all, and of the fleecy staple he gathers from his well-tilled acreage a not inconsiderable crop eachseason, about thirty bales per year. He is also a successful raiser of cattle, using regular Black Poll bulls with native stock. His entire farm includestwo hundred and sixty acres.

Mr. LeDoux was reared on his father's farm where he assisted in general highland farming. There he received, under the capable guidance of his father,a thorough insight into the details involved in an efficient cultivation of the soil and in farm management generally. this training, gained in the hardschool of experience, has been the means of enabling him to overcome the usual difficulties encountered on the farm. From there he moved to JeffersonDavis Parish and was engaged in work as a steam engineer for four years. Afterwards he embarked in 1905, upon the career of farming for himself andhas made a conspicuous success.

Mr. LeDoux was connected with the Agricultural Administration program for five years, in which work he rendered useful and intelligent service forthe government. He has served as a ward committeeman, as a gravel road committeeman, and is a valued and esteemed member of the Cattlemen'sAssociation.

Mr. Ledoux is rated as one of the stalwart and progressive members of the class of yeomanry that has contributed so largely to the rapid strides ofagricultural development in this section.----------Obituary------ Jennings - Delacourt A. LeDoux, 74, prominent rice farmer and cattleman, died at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's hospital in Lake Charles,where he had been since Monday. The body is at the Miguez funeral home and rosary will be said at eight o'clock tonight. Final rites will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic church with Rev. Charles Main, pastor, officiating. Burial will bein Calvary cemetery. He moved to north of Jennings from the Iota community some 60 years ago. He is survived by his wife, Mr. Lucy Peloquin LeDoux; three sons, O. W. and Arthur, both of Jennings and Albert of Lake Arthur; a brother, Jim ofJennings; a sister, Mrs. Sidney Lejeune of Iota; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
