January 5, 2017 I am rejoicing in a new year!  Like many, I was glad to see the end of 2016 but must admit that I am looking forward to 2017 with a more positive attitude and much more enthusiasm.  I am excited to be serving as your President this year but must admit I have some qualms since it has been 35 years since I last served as President of the Edmonton Club.  Lots of processes and policies have changed in that time so I am back in “learning” format.  I firmly believe that sometimes you need to put yourself out of your comfort zone and take a step off the edge of the cliff in order to continue to grow. However, you may have gathered from my theme of “Together We Can”, I don’t plan on taking this journey alone.  I am expecting all of you to travel with me this year as together we infuse new energy and enthusiasm into our club, as together we find new and inventive ways to present exciting and thoughtful programs that enrich us all, and as together we have some fun and get to know a little more about each other and our Association during 2017.Our Board of Directors has been busy.  Membership Board Contact Kim Reilly has emailed your Desk and Derrick membership forms for 2017 to each of you.  Please take a moment to complete the form and bring it to the January dinner meeting or mail it back to Kim. I would also like to extend a special thank you to the following members who have stepped up with us.  Jan MacDonald will be Chairman for the Bulletin Committee and Claudette McCain will be Chairman for the Social Committee. By now you should all have received an email from me outlining the dates of our dinner meetings as well as the details on our January meeting program.  Our goal is to provide you with as much advance notice as possible so you can plan your schedules accordingly and invite a guest to learn from our presentation speaker or to learn about Desk and Derrick. So, take that step off the edge of the cliff with me:

• Get your membership form submitted• Come to the January dinner meeting to hear our speaker• Sign up to serve on a committee

 Together we can,Evelyn

Christina Forth, 2017 President-Elect ADDC and Installing Officer

Madame President, fellow members and guests good evening to each of you and welcome to the 2017 Installation of the Desk and Derrick Club of Edmonton. I was so honored when President-Elect Evelyn Black asked me to install the 2017 Board of Directors. Tonight, I honor all of you for your commitment to our Edmonton Club, Region VII, and Association of Desk and Derrick Clubs.

2016 Board of Directors, we are very grateful to each of you for the part you have played in the operation of the Edmonton Club. Will all of you please stand? Let’s give them a hand, they deserve it.

The leadership of this Club now passes to other hands, to your newly elected Board of Directors for the year 2017. The progress of this Club depends on the pride and commitment that is possessed by each of your 2017 Board of Directors. They should have the best interests of the Club in mind for all decision making and lend support where needed.

2017 Board of Directors, please remember, the membership is the messenger. They will create and develop new ideas and it is from and by the membership that the Board is elected and from which the board of directors receives support and encouragement.

As I call your name, please join me at the podium.

KIM REILLY

You, KIM, have been elected to the position of director. You have chosen to serve with the duty of representing membership, serving as the contact between the Board of Directors and the various committees of this organization. You will help form the policies of this club, and aid in the finding of answers to questions as they arise.

Will you accept the assignment of Director and each make a commitment to this Club? Thank you.

The directors are the liaison between the Committees, Committee Chairmen and the Board of Directors of the Edmonton Club.
