MY EXPERIENCE

• I was a happy person.

• May 24, 2011 • I experienced

depression for the first time in my life.

She’s smiling

But…

Its killing her inside.

WHAT IS DEPRESSION?• Cannot perform normal functions.

• They can’t pull themselves together.

• Sad

• Guilty

• Loss of Interest

• Weight loss/ Weight Gain

WHY SHARE THIS?• I share this because I never thought this would actually happened to me. • This can happen to anyone.• Is depression an excuse?

IS DEPRESSION REAL?

• It is called Depressive disorder.

• This illness involves the body, mood and thoughts.

• It is not just passing the “blue mood”.

CAUSES

• There is no pin point cause to depression.

• Are illnesses of the brain (known to most doctors).

• Trauma

• Loss of loved one

• Bad experience

• Rape

SOCIETY

• It affects the people around you.

• Who doesn’t want to be happy?

• But… still we are depressed.

• 15 million battle this illness.

• Postpartum Depression

• Bipolar depression

• Seasonal Depression

POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION ?

• Labor plays a major role.

• Anxiety from becoming new moms.

• Needy Infant

BIPOLAR DEPRESSION • 2.6 Americans are affected by bipolar.

• Misconception

• Highs to lows in a matter of seconds

• Antidepressant's don’t work well.

WHAT? SEASONAL DEPRESSION?

• Abuse of anything

• Alcohol, drugs , and sexual activity.

• Signs of hurting someone or themselves.

• Its seasonal because they don’t think of this all the time.
