In the Name of Allah the Most Merciful Most Gracious

Introduction

Divided into two sections, this handbook highlights key statistics relevant to Taibah

University (TaibahU) departments, programs, and awarded degrees. The first section

describes these components while integrating tables and charts so as to secure a simplified,

synthesized and at-a glance picture of TaibahU academic constituents. Nonetheless, an

exhaustive view of TaibahU colleges is further illustrated in the second section, which

dedicates one single page for the departments, programs, and students’ gender in each

college. Only College of Education was allocated two pages due to the large number of

programs it currently offers.

Updated and bilingual (Arabic – English), this third edition of TaibahU departments &

programs handbook (2015 – 2016) has considered the constructive comments reported by

TaibahU deans, as well as the recent changes within colleges, programs and departments.

Amendments can be summarized in: a) the deletion of the departments of College of Applied

Sciences following the merge of its departments within the College of Science, b) integrating

two new programs within the College of Medical Rehabilitation Sciences, c) modifying the

Arabic name of “College of Computer Sciences & Engineering” to “Computer Science &

Engineering”, d) freezing students’ enrolment in some programs at Community College, as

well as other graduate & postgraduate programs at the College of Education, e) designating

distant learning programs alongside regular ones, and f) integrating contact info for each

college.

As can be seen from this handbook, TaibahU has 115 active academic departments, and 65

programs 5 of which lead to Associate Degrees, 44 Bachelor’s Degree, 2 Higher Diploma,

and 13 Master’s Degree. Additionally, it can be noticed that the number of programs is less

than that of the departments. Such variation can be attributed to either the non-inclusion in

the statistics of replicated programs offered by on and off campus colleges, or inexistence of

programs in certain departments.

In fine, I would like to express my gratitude for those working at the Statistics & Information

Center for the time and effort they took in preparing this handbook, and extend my

appreciation to Deans of TaibahU Colleges, Curriculum Committee, Revision and

Translation teams for their dedicated commitments in preparing this handbook. May God

reward them for their good deeds and notable achievements.

First Section

Taibah University Departments & Academic Programs

Statistics relevant to TaibahU colleges, departments, programs, and awarded degrees

can be summarized as follows:

First: TaibahU Colleges & Higher Institutes

Number of TaibahU Active colleges is 28 and one Institute. Sixteen of these are

located on campus, and 13 of them located in Yanbu, Ola, Khaibar, Hnakiyyah, Mahd,

and Badr.

Second: Academic Departments

Total number of TaibahU departments is 161. These include 151 active departments,

and 46 inactive departments.

Third: Academic Programs & Awarded Degrees

As can be seen from the tables and charts below, TaibahU currently offers Sixty-Five

(65) undergraduates and graduate programs divided as follows:

- Five (5) Associate Degree programs offered by TaibahU 6 Community

Colleges.

- Forty-Four (44) Bachelor’s Degree programs offered by TaibahU 22 Colleges.

- One (1) General Diploma program at the College of Education.

- Two (2) Higher Diploma programs at College of Education, and Higher

Institute for Imams.

Chart 2 highlights the presence of 46 inactive departments in 18 Colleges, most of which are at Applied

Medical Sciences (Yanbu + Ola), followed by Yanbu Engineering with 5 inactive departments, and lastly

Engineering and Business Administration of Yanbu with 4 inactive departments each.

Executive Summary

This Handbook covers statistics pertaining to the departments, programs and awarded

degrees offered by TaibahU Colleges and Institutes. The followings are key figures of

this handbook:

Taibah University comprises 28 Colleges and one Higher Institute.

There are 15 Colleges on campus; 13 of them are located in TaibahU different

branches.

There are 115 active departments, and 46 inactive departments. The majority of

inactive departments are located in TaibahU branches. These shall be activated

in accordance with a timeframe which meets Madinah market needs.

TaibahU currently offers 65 academic programs in total. These are: 5 Associate

Degree programs, 1 General Diploma for Education, One Higher Diploma, and

13 Master’s Degree programs.

Master Degree programs are offered by 3 Colleges namely: 1) Education, 2) Arts

& Humanities, and 3) Science.

Diploma programs are offered by College of Education, and Higher Institute for

Imams.

TaibahU currently awards the following academic degrees: Associate, Bachelor,

General Diploma in Education, Higher Diploma, Master, and Doctoral Degrees.
