2. Departmental Excursion
Departmental Excursion 2019 – Kalimpong, Darjeeling & Mirik
Dates: 10 – 15 January, 2019
The students of MBA along with some faculty members headed for a five day (10-15 Jan’ 2019) sojourn in the lap of nature for self-exploration and developing a holistic perspective. Away from the din and bustle of the city, the students visited few exotic places nestled in the Himalayan region. The first stop was Kalimpong. The picturesque town sitting on a ridge overlooking the Teesta River. The excursion team visited Buddhist Monastery for mental peace and tranquility. The trekking to Deolo Hilltop and enjoying a panoramic view of the valley was real rejuvenation of the battered urban mind. The next stop was Mirik, en route to Darjeeling. Boating in Mirik Lake was infact a diadem of serenity! Darjeeling the ‘Queen of the Hills’ was a visual treat. The breathtaking view of snow clad Mt. Kanchenjunga belittled all with its magnanimity.
All were ready, early in the morning scoffing down a quick sandwich and slurping a milkshake to visit the Zoo & Rock Garden. Before that, the students got up in the wee hours to have an experience of life time - the Sun rise at Tiger Hill. The winding road at Batasia Loop on the way to Ghoom Monastery mesmerized the young soul. The students along with the faculty returned to Kolkata via Siliguri. The trip was instrumental in augmenting the camaraderie among students.

Departmental Excursion 2018 – Sikkim
Dates – 17 – 22 April, 2018
The words by Walcott stand in glory even today. To help students appreciate the diverse work cultures, crafts, heritage and simple life patterns along with the lush-green bounty of the snow-clad mountains in the backdrop of mystique landscape, the department conducted the annual excursions for its MBA students on the onset of summer, in April 2018 to the landlocked state – Sikkim. The emerald green Teesta rippling alongside, the mighty Buddha enshrined at Samdruptse, the Rhododendron blossoms, the religious Chardham, the picturesque Temi tea garden, numerous gushing waterfalls and the young, energetic boys and girls – made memoirs to be cherished.
With all the bustle and chatter, such excursions have always been a rejuvenating experience for the students because apart from fun and frolic, it seeks to develop team-spirit, leadership skills,
organizing skills, assertiveness and group interactions. The objective is to provide a learning environment in an outbound setting where the students learn discipline with sensitivity. Creative activities, nature trails, treasure hunts, thrill learning, fun games and camp fires are appealing dimensions of these excursions—the perfect base for confidence building, team learning and personality development.
