Update YourEmergency Card Information

Starting on July 1, 2021 for the new school year 2021-2022, families will be able to complete the Emergency Card form on ParentVUE.

Through the online emergency card form, families will be able to update their student’s health information, emergency contacts, and upload health forms and immunization records. Families may also submit a paper emergency card to your school.

Vaccination Required for SFUSD Employees

Starting September 7, all SFUSD employees will be required to be fully vaccinated unless they have a documented medical or religious exemption.

Anyone who is not yet vaccinated will be required to test for COVID at least weekly.

It takes ALL of US to keep everyone safe.

This means ALL DISTRICT staff, students, and visitors at schools and staff & visitors at central offices must:

★ Self-screen for COVID-19 before coming to a district facility or school everyday/everytime

★ Stay home when sick

★ Wear face masks at all times, except when eating or drinking (Students with documented medical reasons are exempt)

★ Wash or sanitize hands frequently

On August 2, 2021, the San Francisco Department of Health updated the Safer

Return Together Health Order by adding a new requirement for individuals,

regardless of their vaccination status, to wear masks while in indoor

public settings in San Francisco. There are limited exceptions for certain

exempt individuals (like children under two). Other limited exceptions apply to

designated settings where required ventilation measures have been put in

place and when participants are engaged in an activity where masks may be

removed.

San Francisco Department of Health Guidelines

Aligned with the CDC and CDPH TK-12 Guidance for school year 2021-2022

○ Schools should prioritize a full return to in-person learning for all grades at full capacity.

○ Staff and students must self screen at home and stay home if ill.○ Everyone must wear facemasks indoors at schools, even if fully

vaccinated. ○ Physical distancing and cohorting are not required○ During wildfires or other times when air quality is poor, prioritize

maintaining healthy air quality indoors. Your school may remain open even if you need to close your windows. Continue other precautions, especially wearing face masks

What’s Allowed Section

● Parents and caregivers may enter the building for pick-up and drop-off, even if they are not fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

● Therapists who are not employees but provide direct services to children onsite, such as ABA providers, occupational therapists, and physical therapists should be allowed to provide services. Providers should also be allowed on-site for vision, hearing, and dental screening.

● Festivals, performances and other events that involve families; tours; and open houses are allowed

● Drinking fountains can be used.

● Students can share toys, computers, books, games, play areas, and area rugs.

● Sports, dance, exercise, wind-instruments, singing, and chanting are allowed. Masks must be worn indoors for all activities.

Modified & Shortened Quarantine

This “modified quarantine” applies only to students who were exposed to COVID-19 in school and both students were wearing masks at all times during contact. To attend school during quarantine, the contact student must:

● Continue to wear a face mask in school● Get tested for COVID-19 twice a week● Remain free of any COVID-19 symptoms during this time. ● Only attend school● Must not participate in activities outside of school or extracurricular activities at

school, including sports.

If modified quarantine criteria is NOT met, student must quarantine for the standard 10 days with option to shorten to 7 days if a negative test obtained after day 5 with no symptoms. . Documentation of negative test result is required.

● Continue to provide Color testing options for asymptomatic staff and students.

● Weekly courier pick from all school sites for self swab kits (an increase from bi-weekly testing in the Spring).

● Weekly testing for students available at 20 mobile sites throughout the city (an increase from bi-weekly testing in the Spring.

● One of the primary prevention strategies for preventing the transmission of COVID 10 is for symptomatic staff and students to stay home when they are ill.

● Applied to California Department of Public Health to participate in Home Test Pilot program to provide self test kits for unvaccinated staff or students who are identified as close contacts or exhibit symptoms after coming to school.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: In-person instruction will remain the primary and majority offering of the district, remote learning shall be considered an option for any student who cannot return to in-person learning for medical reasons, as well as for exceptional students who may benefit from remote learning for social-emotional or academic reasons, or because of other factors.

● Pilot program for the 2021-22 SY for TK-12 students who are medically fragile or would be put at risk by in-person instruction due to COVID-19.

○ K-8 Students participate full time in a district-wide Online Learning Program, while retaining a secondary enrollment at their home school

○ 9-12 grade students will enroll full time in Independence High School while retaining rights to return to their prior school

● Recent legislation requires that students may opt out of the OLP at any time and must be able to return to in-person instruction within 5 days.

● The OLP is NOT intended for students who must quarantine due to exposure to COVID.

● ExCEL After School Programs are operated by community agencies at 89 school sites.

● Early Education OST web page from sfusd.edu (OST) are operated by SFUSD’s Early Education Department at 21 school sites.

● Community organizations and private groups - Schools may have other programs that SFUSD does not manage or fund. Memorandum of Agreement and Facilities Use Permit required to operate.

Staffing shortages are reducing the number students who can be served by these programs. As staff are hired, capacity will grow.
