Chapter 1: Situational Analysis of Village 1.1. Introduction

Village Profile: - a) Village Profile: Hathwala is a village panchayat located in the Panipat district of Haryana state,India. The latitude 29.2259832 and longitude 77.1164444 are the geocoordinate of the Hathwala. Chandigarh is the state capital for Hathwala village. It is located around 172.5 kilometer away from Hathwala.. The other nearest state capital from Hathwala is Delhi and its distance is 62.6 KM. The other surrouning state capitals are Delhi 62.6 KM., Dehradun 139.4 KM., Chandigarh 172.5 KM.The surrounding nearby villages and its distance from Hathwala are Bilaspur 1.4 KM , Atta 3.2 KM , Dikadla 4.4 KM , Basaera 4.4 KM.

Hathwala is a village which is shining with his achievements and the progress in it's distt. The village is situated at the shore of the river Yamuna. The village has it's history. The older citizen say that Hathwala is named as many years before the elephants used to live there. So it is named as Hathi-Wala and then renamed as Hathwala. All the streets are good having lights and every street has minimum two handpumps. A stadium for playing games is built by him.The man made a water tank for the big temple of the village

1.2. Population :- Hathwala is a large village located in Samalkha Block of Panipat district, Haryana. Total household in village is 1219. The Hathwala village has population of 7208 of which 3829 are males while 3379 are females as per Population Census 2011. In Hathwala village population of children with age 0-6 is 1003 which makes up 13.92 % of total population of village. Average Sex Ratio of Hathwala village is 882 which is higher than Haryana state average of 879. Child Sex Ratio for the Hathwala as per census is 834, equal than Haryana average of 834

1.3. Temperature and rainfall January is the coldest month when mean daily maximum temperature is 20.1˚С and mean daily temperature is 6.7˚С while May and June are the hottest month with mean daily temperature reaches 39˚С and sometimes maximum temperature may go above 45˚. The region receives rainfall mainly under the influence of southwest monsoon from July to September. Around 70 percent rainfall is received during this season and the remaining rainfall is received during December to February. There is 31 rainy days.

1.4. Agricultural Land and Cropping Pattern

The total agricultural land is 631 hect. Wheat, rice, jowar, bajra are major crops grown in the village.. The other crops grown are sugarcane, oilseeds and pulses. Buffalo is the main milk animal followed by cow. Horticultural and vegetable crops are also cultivated in the district. Agro forestry trees like eucalyptus and popular are also finding their ways in the farming system . The main crops cultivated in the district are paddy, maize, wheat, gram and sugarcane.

1.6. Educational Institutions and Literacy Rate

The essence of Human Resource Development is education, which plays a significant and remedial role in balancing the socio-economic framework of the country..there is number of govt. And private School is the village. mid-day meal is provided in the school. Hathwala village has higher literacy rate compared to Haryana. In 2011, literacy rate of Hathwala village was 75.57 % compared to 75.55 % of Haryana. In Hathwala Male literacy stands at 84.13 % while female literacy rate was 65.96 %.

Chapter 3: Mitigation & Preparedness Plan

This chapter will include:

3.1. Standard Operating Procedures

The teams formed in the previous chapter, their SOPs shall be listed down here. For eg:

3.1.1. Early Warning & Information Dissemination Team Communicate the information...... Update contact details of local resources/ offices, etc...

1. Village Secretary or Patwari should be Nodal Officer for Disaster Management plan

of respective village 2. VDMC should conduct meetings/ Gram Sabha for planning for Disaster Management

Teams, HRVC and mitigation issues, preparedness issue, relief distribution sites, rehabilitation plans other plan related issues.

3. Village Secy shall document the plan and VDMC shall approve the plan and submit it to the BDPO Office.

4. BDPO should make a copy of the plan and submit it to ADC Office after Compilation of the plans.

5. Further, Funds may be send to BDPO for conducting capacity building trainings at village level for VDMC and teams under VDMC and send the utilization certificate to this office.

Chapter 5: Contact details & Updation Mechanism

For an effective management, communication has been always recognized as integral part for a long

time. Since last decade, among the number of communication channel, mobile may be the first

operational communications channel to convey information about their specific needs and to

coordinate amongst themselves and with others who can help them, especially in emergency

situation. During a disaster/emergency/chaotic situation, mobile phone has always on the top
