2003 Research Report

University of Manitoba Department of Psychiatry Research Report

This year’s Departmental Research Report is the 7th annual report since its re-introduction in 1998. Highlights of research activity this year include thirty-three peer-reviewed papers (published or in press), nine scholarly book chapters, the establishment of an Annual Faculty Research Forum and sustained funding of several research groups through a variety of national granting agencies. Three particularly noteworthy achievements include Dr. Harvey Chochinov’s Tier I Canada Research Chair in Palliative Care, Dr. Brian Cox’s involvement in a Canadian Institutes of Health Research New Emerging Team in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Dr. Jitender Sareen’s three year establishment grant from the Manitoba Health Research Council. Once again, the areas of research activity represented in this annual report reflect a great diversity of interests and expertise within the Department of Psychiatry.
