4. Curricular Organization

Department of gynecology and obstetrics follows the MBBS

Curriculum as prescribed by UHS, which is the degree awarding institute.

The Medical Education Department works within the orbit of UHS Standards

To implement the designed curriculum and teaching strategies according to

Table Of Specifications (TOS, given by UHS/attached in “STUDY GUIDE

GYNE&OBS, FINAL YEAR MBBS”, RMDC).

4.1 Credit hours:

Total 300 hours : Gynecology & Obstetrics

3rd Year : 50 Hours

4th Year : 100 Hours

5th Year : 150 Hours

It is pertinent to mention that RMDC exceeds the number of minimum allocated

hours .70% hours are clinical teaching and 30% hours are theoretical teaching.

Total numbers of hours distribution is mentioned in STUDY GUIDE). 20% time is

assigned for self-directed learning. Following curriculum documents are attached

as Annexures in “STUDY GUIDE FINAL YEAR”.

4.2 Teaching Methodologies

A horizontal and vertical integrated curriculum is being followed in RMDC

which is aligned with UHS vision, institutional mission to address the local

community and national needs with contextual relevance to meet the PM&DC

standards.

7.4 Assessment Policy

Department of Gynecology & Obstetrics,RMDC is following traditional

discipline based curriculum developed in light of Pakistan Medical & Dental Council

and University of Health Sciences guidelines essence of the assessment policies are

as under:-

1.5.1 Passing criterion is 50% marks.

1.5.2 Assessments will be carried out at end of each term and at the end of

academic year.

As RMDC is ISO Certified 9001-2015, we abide by its rules. Refer to Blue Folder

8 Examination

Internal assessments (Sendup) of gynecology & obstetrics are compulsory for

students appearing in final professional exams by UHS.

8.1 The weightage of internal assessment is 10%.

8.2 The marks of internal assessment are displayed on notice board of college as

well as in department of Gynae in Punjab Rangers Teaching Hospital affiliated with

RMDC.

8.3 Record of continuous internal assessment is maintained by one focal faculty

member of gynecology department as assigned by the Head of Department.

- Twice weekly interesting case discussions in morning time from 8.30-9.15 am

with HOD & Professor and departmental affairs which are maintained in

separate Register as hard copy for record in Gynae department.

- A workshop on “Maternal Resuscitation“ was organized by Department of

Gynae On 30.10.2019 in Punjab Rangers Teaching Hospital with 3.5 CME

Credit Hours.

- HOD promotes continuous medical learning in form of mini-workshop type

lectures which is arranged by assigned faculty member. Recently, a

departmental activity as “MCQ Workshop” was organized in Gynae by

Assistant Professor under supervision of Professor (Prof.Dr.Shehnaz Kauser).

- Perinatal Mortality & Morbidity meetings are organized by Department of

Gynae & Paeds in which previous 2 months record is discussed.

- Hospital Morbidity & Mortality meetings are organized by departments of

surgery, medicine ,Gynae and pediatrics for making SOPs for better patient

Care headed by Prof. of surgery Dr.Sadaqat Ali Khan. Minutes of meeting are

kept as record by respective department since Jan, 2019.Our case presentation

MoMs can be available as hard copy from department record.

COMMUNITY HEALTH SERVICES

Medical Camps are arranged by RMDC, in which Department of Gynae

participates every month: are held in peripheral areas of Lahore. It is

compulsory for Final Year students, RMDC to visit those places to know the

basic health care system and problems of the poor community.

We have been recognized by PMDC for 100 students in November 2018.

Our first batch has graduated in current year 2019. We are too young as an

Institution and in preliminary stages. However, we remain in direct contact

With Medical Education Department, RMDC and Students as prescribed by

UHS/PMDC.

-The College has been declared as ISO 9001-2015 certified , to ensure quality

assurance by the said organization .RMDC also ensures quality assurance in
