HumidityMaintaining proper space humidity levels is not only a comfort issue it’s a health issue, high levels of humidity can result in mold and mildew growth. The DNS-24 measures relative humidity with 3% accuracy. Carbon Dioxide (CO2)All buildings require a certain amount of outdoor air to maintain indoor air quality. The problem is outdoor air is expensive to condition, in cold climates it must be heated and humidified, in warm climates it must be cooled and dehumidified. You don’t want to bring in more outdoor air than you need.

This is where CO2 monitoring comes in. The amount of fresh air a building requires is dependent on the number of people inside it. Since people breath out carbon dioxide, by measuring CO2 levels in the space the DNS-24 can tell the BAS how much outdoor air is needed to maintain building air quality without expen-sive over ventilation.

Buildings consume a lot of energy. Finding ways to reduce energy consumption is important but it must be done intelligently. A buildings most important resource is the people inside it, so ensuring a high quality environ-ment is not only the right thing to do it’s smart business. After all, comfortable people are happy, healthy and productive people. The Delta Controls DNS-24 family of BACnet smart room sensors monitors the key room parameters a building automation system (BAS) needs to make the right decisions, saving energy without compromising indoor environment quality.

Multiple Sensor Options To control a building environment first you need to sense it. The DNS-24 combines up to 4 sensors into a single device.

TemperatureAll DNS-24 models include a 10k thermistor for accurate sensing of space temperature.

Introducing the BACstat II: DNS-24 family of sensors from Delta Controls.

MotionAutomatically detect occupancy with the DNS-24s built in motion sensor. Scheduling occupancy can be inefficient, it requires someone to set and maintain schedules. Unplanned changes in occupancy can result in spaces being condi-tioned that don’t need to be.

The DNS-24 motion sensor option takes care of this automatically for you. It detects when the space is unoccupied allowing the BAS to save energy mul-tiple ways such as relaxing temperature setpoints, reducing ventilation, and turning off the lights. As soon as someone enters the room the motion sen-sor detects occupancy and quickly brings the room back into occupied operation.

Combination sensors are more efficient Reduced unit costBy combining multiple sensors into a single device the DNS-24 shares common components which reduces manufacturing costs. This means you get a better sensor at a better price than buying individual single function sensors.

Reduced installation costsThe DNS-24 lowers your installation costs. Why wire and mount several sensors when you can just install one? The DNS-24 mounts easily directly to the wall or onto standard electrical boxes.

It just looks betterNo one wants to see multiple sensors side by side on the wall. With the DNS-24 you combine up to four sensors into a single attractive package that blends with your building architecture. Local User Interface Occupants perception of space comfort is higher when sensor readings such as temperature are viewable and they have some degree of local con-trol. The DNS-24 includes a large LCD display and 4 pushbuttons allowing local users to see current space conditions and adjust setpoints. Setpoint adjust range is easily limited allowing occupant control without compromising energy efficiency.

BACnet Integration Delta Controls is a proven leader in BACnet, the open protocol of choice for building automation. The DNS-24 speaks BACnet MS/TP so it not only talks to Delta products, it can be easily integrated to talk with any device that speaks BACnet.

A True Win-Win Solution The DNS-24 provides a true win-win solution, good for the environment, good for building occupants and good for your bottom line.

CO2 Sensor Technology

CO2 sensors are prone to drift which must be com-pensated for. The CO2 sensor in the DNS-24 uses a dual beam NDIR technology to sense CO2. This means our sensor self calibrates to a stable internal reference making it suitable for use in 24-hour occupied buildings such as hospitals.

Single beam CO2 sensors calibrate to an assumed outdoor ambient which relies on periodic unoccupancy of the building and assumes the building CO2 levels equalize with outdoor ambient levels during the unoc-cupied period.
