MasterForm offer a unique, revolutionary and simplified new way of installing hobs by enabling them to be poured in a single monolithic process with the slab! The secret is in the patented support leg which gets fixed directly to the ply, securing the hob in place during the slab pour. The result is a straight, level, monolithic hob installed in only a fraction of the time and cost of doing it conventionally.

Best of all, the MasterForm cast-in hobs are more resistant to movement because they are poured with the slab, forming a true monolithic structure. There are no cold joints susceptible to cracking over time.

As the hobs will expand and contract uniformly with the slab they will provide a much better solution for many of the waterproofing issues plaguing the building industry.

Supporting Leg height is determined by the depth of the slab (D) with sizes ranging between 75 mm - 1300 mm.

Hobs are made from light gauge 0.75 galvanised steel sheeting with internalbracing to ensure even the largest hobsizes remain straight whilst also being lightweight and easy to install.

Legs fit quickly and easily to the inside ofthe hob, leaving a smooth outer surface.The legs should be spaced appx every1.2m - 1.5m across the span of the hob,with tie wire used to further brace thehobs as required.

Quality MattersThe metal casing of all MasterForm hobs, both retro-fitted and cast-in types offer a further level of protection by preventing concrete blow outs. This is especially useful near balcony edges, where drilling into traditional concrete hobs can cause cracking and instability.

Masterform’s patented cast in hob system also eradicates water ingress from external areas at the base of the hob caused by cold joints, one of the industries most problematic maintenance issues.

Hob Installation

Set the legs.Mark out the hob location and screw fix legs onto either the ply or metal deck, ensuring all legs are rotated in the same direction. Legs should be spaced approx 1.2 – 1.5 metres apart, with a leg at each hob join.

In situations where the bottom of the slab will be exposed we suggest fixing the legs onto our custom bar chairs. This will allow the concrete to flow under the plate, hiding it from view.

Fix the HobsPosition hob over the legs and screw fix along the inner fold using the pre-drilled holes in the plates as a guide.

We recommend using tie wire to further brace and secure the hobs as needed.

Connect HobsCreate corners, join hobs and install end caps quickly and easily by using one of our MasterForm hob custom anciallary products.

For example, for a 90mm wide hob notch 90mm from the inner face of one of the hobs and attach to the adjacent hob with corner plates.

Concrete PourSimultaneously fill the hob during the concrete pour.

IMPORTANT: Equally distribute the flow of concrete to either side of the hob during the pour, ensuring an even pressure is maintained along its length to avoid the hob from twisting.

The final product is a monolithic cast-in hob.
