INTRODUCTION

The use of composite material in industries is widely increasing, where light weight, corrosionresistance and high specific modulus along with strength is critically required.

Composite is a two component material, which is made by two or more materials to give a uniquecombination of properties.

Two or more material includes✓ Reinforcements (Glass, Carbon, Aramid, Ceramics) Binding✓ Materials (Thermosetting Resins)✓ Fillers & additives ( Chalk, Kaolin, Flame retardants, U.V inhibitors)

The above constituents retain their identities, as they do not dissolve or merge completely into oneanother although they are in concert.

GRP/FRP/RTR/RTRP/GRE Pipes

STG supplies best Glass reinforced plastic or ‘’GRP’’ or reinforcedthermo- setting plastic ‘’RTR’’ pipes, which produce excellentfatigue resistance, chemical resistance, impact resistance and excellentenvironmental properties including shrinkage, leading to lesserstresses in finished pipe and producing excellent mechanicalproperties. The selection of pipe compo- nents (binding material andthe reinforcements) is entirely based on the type of fluid handled,type of chemical, percentage of its concentration and servicetemperature. Different types of resins are used as per the applicationand can lead to the following categories

GRP When Iso-pthalic resin. Polyester resin and Ortho-pthalic polyester resin is used resin asmain binding material for general applications like service water and utility water.

FRP / RTR / RTRP / GRV When vinyl ester resin is used as the binding material for specificchemi- cal resistance and slightly elevated temperatures up to 85°C

GRE When epoxy resin is used as binding material for specific chemical resistance up to 120°C.

Fittings used in piping are fabricated with the same high quality pipe material. The samespecification of pipes is used to fabricate spools as per site requirements.

Molded flange adopters

STG fabricates high quality molded fixedflange adopters, a durable and sustainablesolution to lap joints. Flange adoptersare all customized and make to order as perspecific requirements, design parametersand drilling standard as to meet the

customer needs and requirements. A fiveyears warranty is offered on all of ourmolded flange adopters against anydefect or leakage.

STG fabricates high quality mitered elbow,obtained from the pipe cut length laminat-ing the cut length to obtain the desiredbend. Mitered elbows can be produced inlong radius and short radius as per specificrequirements.

Reducers

STG fabricates high quality reducers, it’s a type of fitting used in between two pipes having different

diameters. Eccentric reducers are used, where, the diameter of the pipe on the upstream side of the

fitting (i.e. where flow is coming from) is larger than the downstream side. However concentric

reducers are used, where the two different diameter pipes are on the same axis. Reducers can

be fabricated as per specific dimensional requirements with butt & wrap lamination joint system or

either flange / lap joint system.

STG fabricates high quality WYE - connections, itis fabricated for the straight pipe to adapt to differentdiame- ter pipes. WYE-connections can be fabricatedas per specific dimensional requirements with butt& wrap lamination joint system or either flange / lapjoint system.

STG fabricates high quality spools as to give ease in siteinstallations by reducing the number of field joints.Deteriorated piping spools installed at site can beremoved to replace it by new one following thesame specification and dimensions. Modification inexisting piping is likely to occur by the passage oftime, additional spools can be added to piping struc-tures for making modifications

TANKS

STG fabricates FRP tanks for chemical and waterstorage. Tanks are made with optimum qualityreinforcement and premium quality resin, without anyinclusion of cost reducing fillers. The tanks aredesigned as per BS-4994:1987 and BS EN13121.STG produce all tanks keeping in mind the end user andoperational life of the tank. Binding material for tankstructure is selected precisely to suit the operating anddesign conditions as to produce more durable andreliable product for our customers.

GRP water tanks are fabricated for water storage withhigh quality Iso-pthalic polyester resin. Water tankscan be fabricated vertical with flat bottoms and

horizontal tanks with FRP saddle supports. Tanks arefabricated in various sizes up to Ø 3.5 meter.

Tanks are supplied with ladders, safety cages, intermediate platforms and hand rails as perspecific requirement.Our diversified experience in tank fabrication and designing enables us to design, fabricate andsupply a wide variety of tanks.

GRP/FRP SEPTIC TANKS

Underground septic tanks are fabricatedwith center partition and two-man ways as perspecific installation requirements. Forsupport and extra strength metallic andnon-metallic stiffeners are added to tankstructure. These tanks are not designedwith any saddle supports.

STG provides economical and cost-effective solutions forchemical storage. Every tank is fabricated and designed asto fulfill its operating conditions. All the chemical tankscontain a corrosionbarrier and chemical resistant liner, the choice of the internal liner directlydepends on the concentration of the acidic or alkaline solution, andoperating temperature.Both horizontal and vertical tanks are fabricated as per specific requirements. High qualitypultruded access ladders, safety cages and intermediate platforms can be provided andinstalled with the tanks as per customer requirements.

Pipe Cold Cutting & Beveling

Cold cutting allows you to cut and chamfer your pipingwithout generating flames or sparks in your system,which prevents any ignition of residual gases containedinside out-of-service lines.

Steps:

• Installation of the safety part (extinguisher, shunts connected toground).

• Installation of the OCM (* Orbital cutting machine) on the piping.• Pneumatic motor assembly, cutting tools and chamfer on the OTC.• Pipe rigging by means of candles installed on the platform of the

scaffolding to maintain the piping once the cutting is completed.• Installation of a bin under the machine to collect chips and cutting

oil.• Starting the machine.• During cutting, the tools should be sprayed uniformly with cutting

oil.

STG has two 3,240 m2 blast cleaning and painting facilities located in Al-Khobar and Jubail. Our blast
