SOCIETY REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST 2017

The month of August named after the Roman Emperor Augustus is a month of energy, activities, full of

passion, vigor and vitality.

Independence Day:

All these were seen in our school Delhi Public School Nadergul, this month. The spirit of nationalism was

predominant as the 73rd Independence Day was celebrated in the school premises with DPS motto being

Service before Self. This Independence Day was celebrated with this true spirit of selfless sacrifice. For

Zuzu this Independence Day was a day celebrated with difference as the school had planned diverse

activities all aiming at ushering in the spirit of sacrifice.

The students of grade 7 celebrated the Independence Day along with the inmates of the Chanchalguda Jail.

The students presented a skit on the major movements of the Indian freedom struggle.

The students of grade 6 celebrated Independence Day at the Government school in Imjapur while a few

sections of students along with their teachers went to the Old Age Home at Badangpet and spent some time

with the inmates there.

A few sections of grade 5 reached the police station at Adibatla to celebrate the 73rd Independence Day

celebrations while a few other sections celebrated Independence day in an Orphanage at Gurramguda.

All other students of Pre – Primary and Grades I – IV celebrated the national festival in the school premises

with the pre-primary students taking the center stage. The day also marked a cartoon carnival with some of

the students of grades I and II dressing themselves in their favorite cartoons and spoke about them. For

Zuzu it was fun to see Pokémon and Doremons, lots of Spiderman, Avengers, Tom n Jerry, Chota Bheem and

Shin Shan all in his school making merry with him and his friends.

Social Week:

On the theme of Independence the social studies department celebrated week long activities on different

topics in the subject. While the Quit India movement was appreciated by all, the solar system and planets

captivated the younger Audience. The topic on Indian Rivers Day and Fundamental Rights and Duties

reminded all of us of our responsibility. Many a national leader like Jhansi Lakshmi Bai, Nehru, Sardar

Vallabai Patel, Bhagath singh. Were brought to life on stage by the children of grades 6 and 7. Zuzu

appreciated this week as history always teaches us to be humble and respect the sacrifices of these great

national leaders.

Montessori week:

One of the greatest educationists who brought in reforms in the field of preprimary education is Maria

Montessori. Her concepts of sensory explanation in the field of education are used even today. Training of

children senses by exposure to sights, smells and tactile experiences all became a part of the Montessori

sensorial materials. Delhi Public School Nadergul has a Wonder Room equipped with such practical life

activities and teaching material taken from the Montessori education. The school celebrated a week long

learning using Montessori techniques in memory of the great educationist.

Language week:

Not to fall behind the Telugu, Hindi and Sanskrit departments of Delhi Public School, Nadergul conducted a

week long language week celebrations. While the Telugu department highlighted the importance of

education the Hindi department emphasize the need for protecting the environment while the Sanskrit

department trained the children to perform a skit on Lord Ganesh.

Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrations:

Nature Friendly Ideas, Laws, Policies and Guide Lines are all embedded in all of us as DPS students. We

believe and nurture every element in being and promoting a green living. The Ganesh Chaturthi festival –

One of the most popular Festivals in India was celebrated in our school too with a potter and a bag of clay.

The Preprimary children continuing with their Montessori week for the enhanced their gross motor skills

with the potter’s wheel activity. The other students spent time with the potter’s wheel to make their own

Eco – friendly Ganeshas which they took home happily. Zuzu and his friends took a pledge to continue with

the celebrations at home too and become a true DPS student.

Krishnashtami Celebrations:

Zuzu’s favorite God is Lord Krishna.

One of the main reasons is the fact that Krishna stands as an Epitome of fun, frolic, adventure and

mischief. The school celebrated the birth of Lord Krishna with full fervor as the students depicted the

major aspects of Lord Krishna’s life in the form of a Dance Drama. The little ones of grade I and II dressed

themselves as Krishna and Radha and danced to the tunes of many beats.

Dad N Me:

It is not only students of my school who has all the fun but sometimes parents also join in to enjoy the best

of activities that happen in school. My Dad was thrilled when the competition of Dad N Me vegetable

carving was announced by my preprimary teachers. My Dad got ready, took some useful tips from my Mom

and on a Saturday we reached school to put in our best foot forward. With just two bananas, the banana

peels and a capsicum my dad was his creative best when he carved a beach scene. Some other Dads carved

a flower out of a pomegranate, a tree out of a carrot and a crocodile out of a bitter gourd.

The event also saw the famous Etv Chef Raju who was the judge. Taking his time of he showed the teachers

and parents a few simple carving techniques. A simple recipe with milk and many other tips for healthy

breakfasts.

Naipunya – Interschool Cultural Fest

Co-curricular activities enhance creativity, develop confidence, improve public speaking and lead to an

overall personality growth. The children of Nadergul participated in the NAIPUNYA Interschool Cultural fest

at Mahindra Hills on 25th August, 2017. The preprimary students bagged First Prize in Art with Clay, 2nd

Prize in colouring while the music team won the third prize in the middle school category.

Isha Foundation Workshop:

To reduce Stress and bring in an element of balance in teachers, the school organized a yoga training

workshop for all the teachers in the school premises which was conducted by Isha foundation.

Rugby:

With an aim to give students an exposure to a various sporting activities, the school organized a Rugby

demo by International Coaches from UK, Scotland and Australia. ZuZu enjoyed the game as the rules

followed the game of soccer which is the most popular game all over the world.

August also saw a lot of revision and completion of syllabus for the half yearly in all the classes to help us

for the Exams. The school also took the initiative of starting an academic enrichment club to help the high

achievers enhance Logical and Reasoning Skills. For ZuZu and all his friends it’s time to seriously sit down

to study and appear for the Half Yearly Exams. So see you in the month of September but till then its study
