At DPS Dubai we follow the CBSE-i curriculum. This curriculum builds curiosity and apassion for learning in children. It provides a platform for all the children to exhibittheir hidden talents and caliber. We at DPS believe in learning by doing. It is astimulating and motivating way for students to learn. It strengthens theirunderstanding of a concept by giving them practical, first-hand experience of theconcept through various activities and projects.

The CBSE-i curriculum also lays special emphasis on the concept of life skilleducation. Library:The library period takes place once every week and children areresponsible for keeping school library books in good condition.It is suggested that a book bag be used on library day to keepthe books in good order. Books from the previous week need tobe returned next week so children can borrow new books.

Practice work:

A schedule is set for this and accordingly the home work is given. Ifyour child does not receive homework please let the teacher know.Otherwise it is expected each child returns completed homework.

CLP:CLP is an important tool for bridging any communicationgap between the teachers and the parents. We inviteyour feedback and inputs through the CLP in order to helpus help you. All parents are requested to login to DPSDubai website and check the CLP regularly for notices,notes and assignments.

As per the CBSE-i curriculum, the theme of the month is ‘My Universe and Me’.

The integrated activities within the curriculum emphasize the development of acomplete and well-rounded human being, where every part of the individual –mind, body, emotions, and spirit – is developed at the same time. This means thatby providing students with lessons that encompass a wide range of skills andsubject matter, they will get a much richer educational experience.

Any student whose contribution is showcased four times in a yearin the webzine, and wins one outstanding prize is eligible for a grand prize atthe end of the year during the Scholar Badge Ceremony.

with black shoes (please avoid laces for the safety of kids). PE House uniform – Students will wear the PE uniform on PE days as per the time-

table .

HEALTH and HYGIENE There will be a fruit break before the first period and later a regular Tiffin break. Do

send in fruit everyday for the fruit break. We would like to encourage healthy andnutritional eating habits. Therefore, we request you to plan your child’s snack boxaccordingly.

Regular checks of uniform and cleanliness will be conducted to ensure good healthand hygiene of students.

LEAVE In case of absence from the school, please send a leave note / application to the class

teacher. In case of a medical leave, kindly furnish a medical leave and fitness certificate from

The time is flying by! I know you feel it, too. Two months of the school year are already over which means summer vacation is round the corner. Lots of work to do before that comes our way!

First round of SA’s and FA’s are almost over. Hope you have started compiling the portfolios wherein you can file all your assessment papers, diagnostic worksheets and enrichment papers. Remember to do all the follow up work in order to reinforce the concepts. As we all are aware Portfolio also carries marks, so please maintain it properly and submit it to your class teacher when asked.

THEME OF THE MONTH AND SYLLABUS:

As per the CBSE-i curriculum, the theme of the month is ‘Plants’. Health is a matter which affects not only each one of us as individuals but also the community in which we live. As ‘health is wealth’, we need to know all aspects that are part of food and nutrition that includes balanced diet and the functions of each of the nutrients. Through the interwoven approach of the CBSE-i curriculum, subjects are inter linked to give our children a more holistic and fulfilling learning experience.

RFID CARD RULES TO BE FOLLOWED

The buses will be provided with card readers, where one has to show the card when they enter and leave the bus.

For students using own transport and walk-ins-, there are 5 gates in our school, if you consider the IN gate as gate 1 and so on. Gate 2 & 4 will be used for own transport in the morning. Gate 3 will be used for faculty vehicles. These gates along with gate 1 will have card readers placed near the gate. In the morning, only the student will be allowed inside the gate, parents will have to leave the child at the gate. (except KG 1 & Kg 2).

No student will be allowed to enter from gate- 5 at any point of time. Student will not be allowed to enter from gate No 1 from 7 to 7:45am.

There will be one card reader placed at the main gate and one at the entrance of the sports complex (under discussion).

The students are expected to pay Dh.100 per year for RFID. In case of student losing the card, they will have to pay Dh.10 to issue a new card.

The RFID card will be used as a library card also. This is true for teachers &students both.

In case of change of residence and the bus, new card will be issued at Dh.10

Hope you had a wonderful summer break with your family. It surely must have been fun travelling, meeting friends and cousins, enjoying trips and meals.

1. Almanac and RFID card must be carried to school every day.

2. Kindly follow-up the day’s work regularly with your child at home.

3. Neat and complete uniform, with a timely nail and hair trim ensure smart appearance. (PE uniform to be worn every Tuesday for Grade Assembly and on days of PE periods.)

4. Kindly ensure that the daily school bag is packed according to time-table. As a matter of policy, trolley bags are not permitted as they are difficult to manage on the steps and pose a danger to others. 5. Communication – Kindly use the almanac for a two-way communication. We are just a phone call away. In case you wish to call up a teacher, please call up during the time-slots as informed to you already.
