i Editorial I am very happy to present the second issue of World Journal of Laparoscopic Surgery to all of you. The World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons (WALS) is an organization whose primary activities are developing, coordinating, promulgating, revising, amending, reissuing, interpreting, or otherwise maintaining standards of minimal access surgery that addresses the interests of a wide base of surgeons from all over the world. This organization has emerged as the world’s leading organization of minimal access surgery. This is the only organization in the world which is truly international. The WALS, as a scientific society, takes a leading role in its evidence-based guidelines on minimal access surgical procedures and techniques. It has taken up its responsibility to support surgeons, gynecologists, urologists and pediatric surgeons with well-founded recommendations in several fields of minimal access surgery. It is important to bring forward new ideas for progress and development in laparoscopic surgery. To fulfil this purpose, the WALS encourages capable and courageous surgeons and gynecologists because we feel that there is still a lack of high quality evidence for several topics of endoscopic surgery and for that clinical trials are urgently needed all over the world. This journal is truly a groundbreaking piece of research that spans the endoscopic surgery and its underpinning technology regardless of religion and philosophy, social movements and political ideologies. I know of no other journal that has succeeded in tackling laparoscopic questions in such a rounded and accomplished manner, revealing the extraordinarily multi-dimensional character of minimal access surgery. The WALS members can now submit their study ideas and laparoscopic trials electronically through the website http://www.worldjls.org. The ideas of members will be screened and checked by staff members of World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons and then the committee will decide whether to accept or reject for publication.
