As part of Delaware’s Testing Plan, Division of Public Health:• Identified categories of businesses
where employers should consider testing
• Guidance now available:de.gov/coronavirus
Located under Resources for Businesses
Business Employee Testing Guidance
• Provides general guidance for businesses
• Identifies categories of businesses that may have employees at higher risk for contracting COVID-19 based on their job duties. § Those businesses are encouraged to set
up testing plans for staff based on their employees’ risk exposure
Business Employee Testing Guidance
• Information is based on CDC and OSHA guidance
• Employers can coordinate testing efforts with DPH
Business Employee Testing Guidance
MEDIUM
LOWERRISK
VERYHIGH
HIGH
Social services, education, manufacturing, volunteers providing front line services, retail, food establishments, correctional staff, cosmetology staff, and child care workers.
Office and industrial facility workers who do not have frequent close contact with coworkers, customers, or the public.
Business Employee Testing GuidanceExposure Level Examples
Health care, first responders – police, fire and EMS, laboratories, medical transport workers and mortuary services with no known positive SARC-CoV-2 contacts or aerosol generating procedures.
Direct healthcare, laboratory and mortuary personnelwith a very high potential for exposure to known or suspected sources of SARS-CoV-2 during specific Procedures.
How Employees Can Get Tested
• Encourage testing through Occupational Health or primary care providers
• Hospital and community testing sitesthroughout the state
Business Employee Testing Guidance
How Employees Can Get Tested • Provide testing events for own
employees in partnership with private laboratories or health system partners.
• Partner with LabCorp for COVID-19 at-home tests. § Nasal swab kits can be shipped to anyone
who meets screening criteria§ Information: pixel.labcorp.com/covid-19
Business Employee Testing Guidance
General Guidance for Employers • Enforce requirements
for wearing face coverings for both staff and customers
• Ensuring staff regularly wash or sanitize their hands during their shift.
• Have hand sanitizersavailable for employees
• Disinfect frequently touched surfaces often
• Work from home if possible
• For those who must report in-person, have staff self-monitor for symptoms daily and stay home they are sick
• Ensure employees can work as socially distant as possible -maintaining at least 6 ft. separation from others.
Clarification on how the Division of Public Health
reports antibody test results
Test Results
How the Division of Public Health Reports Antibody Test Results
• IgM (high risk of current infection)§ Positive results were counted in the positive case
count
• IgG (indication of PAST infection) § Positive results not counted in the positive
case count
Test Results
Confirmed versus probable cases are reported to the CDC
• Positive PCR tests are considered confirmed cases
• Positive IgM antibody tests and epi-linked cases are considered probable
Test Results
Data does not not support any speculation that Delaware’s
positive numbers are inflated
• Only about 10% of our positive cases meet the definition of probable and 90% are confirmed
