PRICES, KIT UPKEEP ALLOWANCES ETC (U)

[D/ST83B/I06/3/30] I. The issuing prices (FJPs) of RN, QARNNS and WRNS ratings' and RM Warrant Officers', NCOs' and Marines' clothing have been reviewed in the light of current costs. Revised prices are shown in the ANNEXES to this DCI, and are to be introduced from I Aug 1984. Although some items have risen in price, most notably RN ratings' made-to-measure suits, most other increases are again moderate, and there are some reductions. Those items showing price variations greater than £1. up or down, at the VAT exclusive rate have been underlined. FIPs for tobacco and cigarettes will be promulgated separately.

2. Kit Upkeep Allowances (KUA), and the Clothing Gratuity for RN personnel on advancement to Petty Officer have been recalculated using the revised prices and taking into account the abatement of KUA and RN ratings resulting from the introduction of working dress in flame resistant cotton announced in DCI RN 185/84. The new rates and amounts are set out in ANNEX A and are also to be introduced from I Aug 84, except that the increased grants for special items for QARNNS and WRNS ratings shown at para c and d of ANNEX A are effective retrospectively from I Jan 84.
