THE CHOIRS OF BOULDER CREEK HIGH SCHOOL
Boulder Creek Music Program has been recognized by Phoenix Magazine as a “Stand Out” in
2010. The choral program is the largest music program in the Deer Valley Unified District and
has more than 230 students involved. Boulder Creek is lucky to have seven amazing
award winning choirs that have all been recognized as Superior Choirs.
Broadway Bound is Boulder Creek’s very own mixed show choir. In its fourth year amongst the
BCHS choir program this choir aims to feature students that are triple threats in performance.
This auditioned group requires top notch dancing and singing. Music performed by
this ensemble is selected from the pop and musical theatre repertoire.

Mr. Kirk Douglas has had the privilege of working
with the amazing Boulder Creek High School Students
for eight incredible years. He earned his degree at Otta-
wa University and California State University,
Northridge. Along with singing in numerous choirs, he
also works as a professional soloist/actor throughout
North America and Europe. Recently Mr. Douglas was
selected to receive the OM Hartsell “Excellence in
Teaching Music Award” through the AMEA (Arizona
Music Educators Association). Mr. Douglas had the op-
portunity to work in Italy singing opera and working as
the assistant to the music director with the Lorenzo
Malfatti Academia Vocale di Lucca. In addition to direct-
ing and performing, Mr. Douglas has served on the Ari-
zona Choral Educators board for two terms and the
American Choral Directors Association of Arizona Board
for one term. He is the active Arts Council of the North
Valley Vice President, and the North Central Region
Governor. Mr. Douglas is extremely honored to have his
choir Broadway Bound featured at the AMEA conven-
tion and looks forward to this spring when his choirs
will perform on stage at Carnegie Hall.
Nancie Tobison is in her second year teaching at
Boulder Creek High School. She retired in 2014
from a long successful career at Barrington High
School in Suburban Chicago. She failed at retire-
ment and is thrilled to be working with Kirk
Douglas.
Mrs. Tobison was named a finalist for the Grammy
Music Educator Award in 2015 and was honored by
Choirs of America in 2014 on the stage at Carnegie
Hall for her contributions to Choral Education. Her
Choirs have performed at the Sydney Opera House,
the White House, Seven European tours, Cuba and
the Olympic Overture to both Beijing and London
games.

Zachary Moore found his love for Show Choir after
performing in several from a young age. He is located
in Charlton Massachusetts and travels throughout
North America as a free lance choreographer. His fast
paced, edgy style of dance has served him well in the
competitive world of Show Choir.
Beyond Show Choir, Zachary has choreographed Mu-
sical Theatre and Dance Troops/Teams in the North-
east. Zachary is delighted to have the opportunity to
work with the amazing talent at Boulder Creek High
School. He would also like to give a special thank you
to his choreography technician Abbie White for her
collaborations in his show design and choreographer
for the Boulder Creek High School Show Choirs. Abbie
is the dance captain of Shepherd Hill High School’s
Premier Mixed Show Choir. In the fall she will be at-
tending Merrimack college, Majoring in Dance.
Susia Ruddell is a freelance show choir chore-
ographer and show designer from Albuquerque, New
Mexico. She is a graduate of the University of New
Mexico where she studied dance, show design, and ado-
lescent development. This spring she will be relocating
to Los Angeles to continue her career in show choir and
further her education in show design. Her refreshing
choreography, keen eye for show design, and strong
teaching ability to shape confident young performers
makes her an asset to the creative team at Boulder
Creek High School. She works all around the south-
west region designing, choreographing, and teaching
performance skills to hundreds of students every year
at various middle schools and high schools. Her pas-
sion to build a community within the performing arts
has made her a leader in building programs across the
region. Susia has led show choirs to win national titles,
awards such as “Best Choreography” and “Best Show
Design”, and created her own dance program, summer
dance camp, and show choir camp. She can be contact-
ed at [email protected].
