deeper the return of the king - mar 13, 2011
TRANSCRIPT
Matthew 24:3As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”
Matthew 24:6-8You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and
earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.
Matthew 24:36
No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

The Return of the King
Stats from the Bible concerning the return of Christ (or the end times):
Mentioned in one out of every 30 verses in the Bible
Mentioned in 23 of the 27 NT books 8 times as many prophecies refer
to the second advent as to Christ’s first advent
From there He shall come to judge the living and the dead
1. Jesus will return2. Jesus will judge
Acts 1:9After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.
Acts 1:10-11They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”
Matthew 24:30 At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory.
John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
Philippians 3:20But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Titus 2:13While we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
1 Thessalonians 4:16For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
1 Thessalonians 4:17-18After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.
2 Peter 3:8-9But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in
keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
2 Peter 3:10a
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief.
1 John 3:2
But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
Revelation 1:7
Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen.
Revelation 22:20He who testifies to these things says,
“Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
In light of the certainty of Christ’s return – take heart! Be
encouraged! Evil does not have the upper hand. Jesus will indeed return and put an end of all that is wrong and affirm all that is right!
From there He shall
come to judge the living and the dead
1. Jesus will return2. Jesus will judge
Acts 17:31For he has set a day when he will
judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.
John 5:22Moreover, the Father judges no one,
but has entrusted all judgment to the Son.
Revelation 20:11-12a Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life.
Revelation 20:12b-13 The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done.
Revelation 20:14-15 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is
the second death. Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
Revelation 20:14-15 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is
the second death. Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

2 Corinthians 5:10

Romans 8:1
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Romans 3:24

1 Corinthians 3:10-11By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 3:12-13If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown
for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work.
1 Corinthians 3:14-15If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.
