Apply a thick layer of paint to the pot and leave to dry completely.

Draw your desired design onto the pot using a pencil.

Use clamps or other practical way to secure and support the workpiece to a stable platform. Etch over your pencil design using a Dremel rotary tool with an engraving accessory like the 191 bit. Experiment taking several passes over the design to adjust the width of your line.
