History of Phragmites in Constitution Marsh

Phragmites was first found in the mid-1980s The first management efforts began in 1990

and ended in 1993 The current management began in 2005 The largest amount of Phragmites in the

marsh was 6.8 acres Constitution Marsh was designated and

Important Bird Area in 1997

Herbicide Treatment First herbicide

applications occurred in 2012

There are 39 different patches, most smaller than 0.1 acre

All of the patches were monitored in 2014
