What do GOALS mean to you??

Page 7: Decision Making & Goal Setting

Short Term Vs. Long Term Goals

Short Term Goals• Short span of time to

complete them (hours, days, weeks)

• Quicker to achieve them • Example: I want to go to

every class this week.

Long Term Goals • Longer span of time to

complete them (months, years)

• Takes a longer time to achieve them

• Example: I want to become a doctor when I grow up

What’s the POINT!?

1. Why do we set goals for ourselves?

2. What is the difference between someone who sets goals and someone who does not?

3. After we reach a goal, is it a good idea to set another goal?

Page 9: Decision Making & Goal Setting

Being SMART about Goal SettingHere’s your SMART plan:• S- Specific (Is your goal clear?)• M- Meaningful and Measurable (How will you

know?)• A- Action-Oriented (What steps do you need to

take?)• R- Realistic (How likely are you to reach your goal?)• T- Timely (How long will it take to reach your

goal?)

• “I want to get a better mark in math class.”

• How can we improve this goal?

• “I currently have a 60% average in my math class and by January 20th I want my math average to raise to 70%.
