Dear MembersOur final event for the year was our Black Tie Henschke Dinner held in the Macquarie Room on Friday 20 November. The menu devised and prepared by Scott Thompson was wonderful, as were the matching 6 Henschke wines. My personal favourites were the poached beef fillet served with the 2010 Cyril Henschke Cabernet Sauvignon blend, and the dessert of white choc-olate mousse served with the sublime 2013 Noble Gewurztraminer. The 57 attendees were a great mix of long-standing Corks ‘n’ Forkers, and other Club members and their guests attending a Corks ‘n’ Forks event for the first time. Everyone had a great night! The theme for the dinner was ‘Henschke – a Cul-tural Heritage’, and as the evening progressed we learned about Albert Julius Henschke – noted sculptor and stonemason after whom the 2015 Julius Riesling we enjoyed with the scallops is named; and the Henschke Family Brass Band after which the 2012 Keyneton Euphonium we enjoyed with the lamb shoulder is named. We screened some photos of Julius and his famous ‘Angels’, which he sculpted in situ at the Ade-laide War Memorial, and of the Henschke family band in the late 1800s featuring the famous B flat euphonium still owned by the Henschke family. We also screened a photo of Stephen Henschke greeting Prince Charles during his recent visit to the Barossa, with a prize for the funniest caption, which was won by Roger Butler. We also had a lot of fun with our options game, which this year was unusually won by a male of the species - Robert Green, one of Eric Tang’s guests. Both Roger and Robert received a bottle of the 2013 Noble Gewurztraminer as their prize.Planning is well under way for 2016, and you might like to mark the following dates in your diaries:February 11 - Austrian wine tasting and vinous ‘wine tour’.April 8 – Dinner – The Best from Tasmania – theme to be confirmed.May 12 – The Loire Valley – wine tasting and vinous ‘wine tour’ down the river.June 9/12 – Trip away – dates and interstate venue to be confirmed.July 14 – Bastille DinnerAugust 11 - Spanish/Portugese tasting and vinous ‘wine tour – theme to be confirmed.September 16 – Dinner – theme to be confirmed.November 18 – Black Tie Henschke Dinner. Finally, a big thank you to everyone who helped

make 2015 a great Corks ‘n’ Forks success – in particular to our CEO for all his help, to Chef and his team for the wonderful menus and food, to

Katrin Soolepp and her team for their profession-alism on the floor, to the Events Team for all their

back office support, to my fellow committee members Cheryl Rose and Jim Robinson, and

last but not least to all of you who turned up with your guests to make our events this year such a

great success. My compliments of the Season, and I look

forward to seeing you all next year.
