Christ is Born! Glorify Him!
'Today heaven and earth unite, for Christ is born.
Today God came to earth in the flesh, and the human
race was lifted up to the heavens. Today, for the sake of
all, He is seen in the flesh, the One Who by nature is
invisible. Let us glorify Him singing: Glory to God in
the highest and on earth peace which Your coming has
bestowed on us. O Savior, glory be to You!' The Nativity
of Christ is a feast of God's compassion and self-giving.
Jesus was born in poverty in a manger, doing this all for us
out of love, charity and His mercy towards us. We become
compassionate and merciful. Christ came to free us from
the bondage of sin and death, and to deify, and change the
human race. Christ must become incarnate in our lives and
extend His mercy.
St. Augustine; " 'Charity' in Greek, means 'mercy'.
What mercy towards those who are miserable is greater
than the Mercy that descended from heaven, from the
creator of heaven, and vested the Creator of earth with
an earthly flesh and made Him who is consubstantial
with the Father also to be consubstantial to us in our
mortal state, and further, for the Lord of the Universe
to condescend and to take the form of a servant. What
mercy is greater than the birth of the Creator, as the
Master becomes a servant and the Redeemer is sold; He
who elevates is degraded and He who raises up is slain?
All this happened so that, He might feed our hunger,
quench our thirst, console our weakness, and wipe away
our iniquities, so that the lamp of our love may be rekin-
dled. Thus, the lamp of our love towards our neighbors
causes the divine compassion to abide in this creation."
Today, we welcome and worship Christ, the Light of the
World, the Sun of Justice who dispels all darkness. Come
and see all Christ has done for our salvation, come and see
the bright light of truth and light shining through the
darkness and despair of our violent and war torn world.
Today is a feast of peace, bringing us the message of joy,
hope and grace. On this day, we, your clergy, extend our
best wishes to you and your loved ones, your families and
to our brothers and sisters in Ukraine. May Christ the
Prince of Peace fill your hearts with His love and mercy,
and may we become instruments of His peace.
