FROM THE HEALTH AND SAFETY COMMITTEE

By Jessica HuntEvery year older adults lose 1% of their muscle mass.* But, it’s never too late to slow muscle loss and even rebuild some strength. Strength and resistance training is the quickest way to get stronger and you don’t have to work out like a body builder. Tasks like carrying bags of groceries, activities like walking, swimming, dancing, and cycling can all help slow muscle loss. You can buy an elastic exercise band and use it in many ways whether sitting or standing. One way: stand in the middle of the band, grasp an end in each hand and pull…release…pull. Whatever you choose, live better by getting stronger.*Consumer Report on Health 8/16
