RECONCILIATION MONDAY DECEMBER 16

"Confession heals, confession justifies, confession grants pardon of sin, all hope consists in confession; in confession there is a chance for mercy."

Fr. Backes and another priest will be hearing confessions from 4:00pm-8:00pm

Every parish in the Archdiocese will have priests available to hear confessions on the 16th if you prefer to go elsewhere.

This schedule replaces our normal times for the Sacrament of Reconciliation after Monday the 16th

Saturday, December 21: 11:00am – 12:00pm **NO afternoon confessions on Saturday, 12/21

Saturday, December 28 4:30 – 5:00pm

Please Note: These are the only confessions available from

December 16 until December 28

On Reconciliation... "Even if you do not confess, God is not ignorant of the deed, since he knew it before it was committed. Why then do you not speak of it? Does the transgression become heavier by the confession? No, it becomes lighter and less troublesome. And this is why he wants you to confess: not that you should be punished, but that you should be forgiven; not that he may learn your sin – how could that be, since he has seen it? – but that you may learn what favor he bestows. He wishes you to learn the greatness of his grace, so that you may praise him perfectly, that you may be slower to sin, that you may be quicker to virtue. And if you do not confess the greatness of the need, you will not understand the enormous magnitude of his grace." - St. John Chrysostom

TEEN CLUB NEWS

58thAnnual PTAF Conference

Last weekend 30 teens, young adults and adults attended the annual PTAF Conference in Ellenville, NY. The theme of the Conference was, “Quiet: God’s at Work” and the Dutchess County theme was “Put Your Light Up”; our teens made both of those themes come to life. They spent the weekend in prayer and worship, Adoration and Reconciliation and of course plenty of Friends, Fun, Fellowship and Food.

We thank so many people: First, we thank Angela Fumo, who every year makes the basic form of our banner and this year was no exception. We also need to thank the adults that gave up their weekend to journey with our teens: Dawn Andrews, Michelle DeMild, Carmela Newman, Linda Eddy and Nan Kramer. Also, to Apryl DeMild, Sarah & Kayla Franzken and Josh Dee, our young adults who come back every year to be wonderful examples of Faith for the teens. Thank you all for loving our teens! Thank you to Linda Ferolito and Andy & Michelle Igoe who helped us get the kids to Conference.

The entire parish community should be very proud of Veronica Keene (outgoing PTAF President), Cortney Nazak (outgoing PTAF Program Chairperson & incoming PTAF Day Chairperson) and Samantha Schucker who was the Conference Co-Chair and incoming PTAF President. These are 3 amazing young women who share their faith everyday by the way they live their lives.

Congratulations go out to Dawn Andrews & Michelle DeMild who were both recipients of the Vincent Pallotti Youth Ministry Award for their dedicated service to our parish teen club and PTAF in general. The St. Stanislaus PTAF Teen Club received the Queen of Apostles Youth Ministry Award for their continued work with Taking It To The Streets. We would also like to the parents of our young people for trusting us with their children. Indeed, you should be very proud of who they are and how they are contributing to build the church community. Mark your calendars for the 59th Annual PTAF Conference, December 4-6, 2020.

Upcoming Events: Next Meeting – Our next meeting will be this Sunday, December 15th. We will be participating in and helping with the which is the parish children’s Advent Celebration, Adventure to the Stable, from 12:15-3:30. Please remember to bring your lunch.

March for Life – We’re looking forward to our annual trip to Washington, DC for the March for Life. Please let Mrs. Tighe know if you are interested and look for more information in an upcoming bulletin.

A NOTE FROM FATHER BACKES A BELATED THANKSGIVING “THANK YOU”... I wanted to express my thanks to those who were able to join us for our special Mass on Thanksgiving Day. It is a blessing to see that this is becoming a tradition for more and more people each year. The beauty of this tradition is that because it is not a day “that we HAVE to go to Mass” just about everyone present is there because they have decided to be there. That changes the way we sing, respond, listen and pray that Mass. It makes sense that we begin the day by thanking the one who is the source of all those things that we are grateful for and I do believe that it sets a better tone for the rest of the day. I would also like to thank the many “volunteers” who stayed behind to exchange the 2019 Missals and Hymnals for the 2020 editions. Many hands do make light work. And finally, a special thanks to those who helped decorate the Church for that day. Sometimes we wonder if we should be bothered since we have to re-decorate for Advent the very next day, but thinking about using purple pumpkins to cover both Thanksgiving Day AND Advent is really not the type of thoughts that we should be having---especially in Church. I may not have had the chance to express my gratitude until this moment, but please know it was in my heart from the moment that I began the Mass that morning with the Sign of the Cross.

GROCERY CARD REMINDER Many thanks to all who faithfully participate in the

weekly grocery card program. We have $50 and $100 cards from Acme, Adams, Shop Rite, Stop & Shop, and

Tops in stock. We buy these cards at a discount, and then you buy them from us at face value – it costs you

nothing extra! 5% of sales come back to us. **10% of sales from Adams**

Consider becoming a regular participant. Volunteers man the station in the kitchen after all Sunday masses. In addition, the cards are available in the parish office during the week.

Did you know we have $25 cards for both Adams and Acme? Grocery cards make great gifts!
