Clothing Drive for 2021-22 - This year, we are expanding our
valley-wide Christmas-season collection of men’s clothing and accessories to now add women's and children's clothing. Not only will we deliver clothing to the men's shelter in Seattle but also to our local CCS Farm Worker Center. So please expand your donations as you clean out your closets before and after Christmas. Got a new coat or shirt for Christmas? Give your old ones a new owner. The season of Advent, in the Church’s liturgy, is the time of Mary: the time, indeed, when Mary offered her womb to receive the Savior of the world, when she carried in herself the expectations and hopes of all mankind. To celebrate Advent means to become like Mary, to enter into and become part of Mary’s Yes, which, always anew, is the area of God’s birth, of the “fullness of time.”

In these days of the second and third weeks of Advent we celebrate two important feasts that remind us of the Blessed Virgin Mary’s key role in God’s work of salvation. For SVCC Flocknote readers on Wednesday, December 8, this is Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgen Mary. Masses are scheduled throughout the Skagit Valley churches today to celebrate and ponder the mystery of God’s plan for Mary. For SVCC bulletin readers on the weekend of December 11-12, we are celebrating the Third Sunday of Advent and—though Sundays in Advent always takes precedence over feast days—also making room to celebrate Our Lady of Guadalupe (Dec. 12). Three additional evening Spanish language Masses are scheduled this weekend to celebrate this Advent Sunday and the Blessed Virgin Mary’s visit to St. Juan Diego and the good news of God’s love she brought to him and to all of us in the Americas.
I’m pleased to share that the synodal process initiated by Pope Francis and encouraged by Archbishop Paul continues in our Skagit Valley churches. Our Intercessory Prayer Teams continue to grow and I have appointed additional coordinators for our Spanish speaking parishioners. Our SVCC coordinators are:

El tiempo de Adviento, en la liturgia de la Iglesia, es el tiempo de María: es el tiempo, en efecto, cuando María ofreció su vientre para recibir al Salvador del mundo, cuando llevó en sí misma las expectativas y esperanzas de toda la humanidad. Introducción a María: el Sí de Dios al Hombre (p. 22) En estos días de la segunda y tercera semana de Adviento celebramos dos fiestas importantes que nos recuerdan el papel clave de la Santísima Virgen María en la obra de salvación de Dios. Para los lectores del Flocknote el miércoles 8 de diciembre, está la Solemnidad de la Inmaculada Concepción de la Santísima Virgen María. Hoy están programadas Misas en todas las Iglesias del Valle de Skagit para celebrar y reflexionar sobre el misterio del plan de Dios para María. Para los lectores del boletín, el fin de semana del 11 al 12 de diciembre, estamos celebrando el Tercer Domingo de Adviento y, aunque los Domingos de Adviento siempre tienen prioridad sobre los días festivos, también abrimos espacio para celebrar a Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe (12 de diciembre). English Confirmation Classes
Confirmation 2022 will be held on Sunday, April 24 at 4:00pm. The Sacrament will be open to all active parishioners between the grades of 7-12 who have received the Sacrament of First Communion. Confirmation preparation sessions will be held on Sundays after the 9am Mass. There is a required parent/candidate meeting on Sunday, January 9 at 10:30am (location TBD). Please contact the Parish Office for more information and to register.
