THE KING IS COMING

For centuries they waited.

Expectantly…hopefully… they anticipated the coming of the promised Messiah.

What was it like? How did the Israelite people

“hold on” to their hope even while they suffered as slaves and longed for God’s promised shalom?

And then He came! The Anointed One appeared,

heralded by angels, worshipped by shepherds. Born in a humble manger, he was acclaimed as the

Redeemer of a nation. And after all that waiting, many missed the event! He came to his own and

his own did not receive him. (See John 1.11)

We are waiting, too, not for his first appearing—

that’s the Christmas we celebrate every year—

but for his second appearing.

He will return again. He will come in like manner

as he was taken away. (See Acts 1.11)

He will come as Judge and he will reign as the eternal King of kings.

That’s who he is!

We wait and we watch…

Abstract: The King is coming! Imagine the joy and expectation of those who longed for the promised Messiah. And then…while shepherds watched their flocks in the field, a baby was born and laid in a manger. He was heralded by angels…innumerable hosts of them! The prophecy was fulfilled on a night like no other!

Ladies’ Cookie Exchange & Fellowship We will host our annual ladies’ cookie exchange &

fellowship on Wednesday, December 18th at 6:00 PM. Please join us for delicious treats & wonderful

conversation with our sisters in Christ! Please bring 3 dozen cookies to share. Please also bring a wrapped white elephant gift (under $5).

Christmas Caroling We are assembling a group to go Christmas caroling at

Marquis Gardens on Wednesday, December 11th at 6:30 PM. Please sign up on the church bulletin board if you want to join us as we spread holiday cheer to our neighbors!

Heart2Heart Women’s Ministry Heart2Heart, a ministry for women ages 18 and up,

will hold their next meeting on Thursday, December 12th at 6:30 PM. Cost is $10 per person, payable at the event.

Scholarships are available. We will have a holiday theme featuring the topic Mentoring Mary, our cookbook giveaway, and dinner. Please RSVP by e-mailing ctallch@verizon.net or calling 724-550-4624.

Seniors in Service Luncheon All seniors ages 50 & up are invited to attend our next

luncheon on Tuesday, December 17th at 11:45 AM. We will be having a catered luncheon by Ethel’s Edibles, and Dave

Dahl will be providing entertainment. Please bring with you a couple of items to place in Christmas baskets for two of our Seniors in Service ladies who are in Cherry Tree Nursing

Center. Please sign up on the church bulletin board if you plan to attend, or call the church office at 724-550-4624 to RSVP, so we

can get an accurate count on the number joining us that day.

Cookbooks Our Heart2Heart gals have compiled a cookbook with 150 recipes! Any lady who attends the December 12th

Heart2Heart event will receive a copy, but anyone in our church family is welcome to order a book for $10 each (while supplies last). Please e-mail ctallch@verizon.net to reserve your copy.

They will be available for pick-up on Sunday, December 15th.

Christmas Card Exchange Are you planning to send Christmas cards to your friends

who attend our church? If so, please feel free to save a few stamps by dropping off your cards for your church friends in

the plastic boxes on the table in the foyer. Please sort your cards by the first letter of the recipients’ last names and place them in the

appropriate folders in the boxes.

Christmas Poinsettias - Orders Due TODAY! If you would like to order a poinsettia in honor or memory

of a loved one, please see the order forms available in the foyer. Poinsettias are $7.50 for a 6 1/2 inch pot.
