4 F eatures Given that the season of many holidays is approaching steadily, you’re probably starting to worry about the effects your favorite holiday foods will have on your perfectly toned body. Well, here are some facts to keep in mind while munching on whatever you munch on this time of year. For every 33g. of turkey, you get 335mg. of sodium, or 14% of your daily value. The turkey breast meat is the part of the bird with the least fat. 1 cup of mashed potatoes includes 210 calories of carbs, out of the 212 total calories. Sodium is the most concentrated nutrient in microwaveable beef gravy containing 280mg. of it per serving (59g.). Though a good source of unsaturated fats, pumpkin pies do contain some cholesterol. A Christmas tree cookie contains 90 calories. This means you’d need to walk almost a mile to work it off. In one cup of eggnog, you’re getting almost 60% of your daily need for saturated fat. Walk two miles for every “Peppermint Bark” candy. Cranberry sauce is pretty much your best choice in toppings, due to low carbs and calories, but it also doesn’t provide any vitamins or minerals, or any other important nutrient. Conclusively, if you choose to count your calories, keep in mind some of the facts above, and consider these two equations: 35,000 calories = 1lb. and for every 100 calories, you need to walk 1 mile to work it off (assuming you walk a mile in 2000 steps). Happy holidays people. Try to remain slim! Pavle’s Point Pavle Jeremic Recently in headlines there was a story about trapped miners in Chile.
