driving in Sweden.After Christmas why not treat yourself, put your feet up with

a cup of coffee and munch one of the moreish chocolate sliceswhilst doing the Christmas quizzes. To all you chocoholicsthere is a novel fruit bowl. Remember not to put it near a

radiator but to keep it cool or you will be serving chocolate icecream.

We would all like to wish you a very happy Christmas and apeaceful New Year. I hope you include in your New Year

Resolutions the making of time to stitch.

Christmas Quiz

Grey’s Court, near Henley was the ideal place to sit and watch the world go by.

The weather was warm and sunnywith a blustery wind that blew yoursunhat away. All the perfect ingredientsto spend a guilt free Sunday stitching,whether in the walled garden or undera shady tree.

Seven enthusiastic embroiderersarrived with their fabric and threads toshow the Grey’s Court visitors embroidery in action. This included views of thecountryside worked in French knots, snapshots of the garden in a variety ofstitches, daisies on the lawn worked on felt, a machine stitched sunflower with a

beaded centre and cross stitch kits - you haveto start somewhere.

Visitors were very interested andcomplimented us on our work. Weencouraged the ‘sewers’, whatever they did tocontinue to sew and those who had neversewn to give it ‘a go’.

Children were fascinated, especially the boys and with help from grannies andmums made simple felt flower brooches. It proved to be very popular and at one

time a production line was set up – fortunately extrafelt was at hand.

The day went very quickly and we all went home verypleased to have shared our embroidery with others.An experience well worth repeating.
