MONTHLY GAME

Its a known fact that the older you getthe faster they go and this year has

been no exception. Gold Cup done anddusted, a new Captain and his entourageinstalled and thus the end of anotherGauteng Nomads golf year. Well doneto Pat Frampton and his 2012 team.

Its amazing how a bit of rain can changethe whole complex of a golf course and

Randparks (Firethorn) course was noexception. Our compliments areextended to the Greenkeeper and hisStaff as the tees, fairways and greenswere in superb condition (its just a pitythat they had to put the pins in so manytricky positions!). Once again themeal in the evening was a fabulousspread and the tables were laden with alarge and wonderful array of cold andhot foods and lots of lovely puddings. Asfor the music, that DJ was fantastic andreally took us all back to the years ofreal dance and jive music. Thanks to

everyone who was involved in puttingtogether a great evening.

As always there were no inductions atGold Cup but Jimmy Littlewood wasawarded his 450 game badge. He thus

becomes the 3rd

current GautengNomad to achieve this award whichwas done over a period of one monthshort of 44 years, at an average of 10.25games per year. Well done Kleinhout.

Nic Loop en Val du Toit had a long day

whilst winning his first ever Matchbox(in 13 years membership) with ascintillating 20 points off of his 6handicap, he said this did include 2 pars.Welcome to the Club, you do realisethat you have already qualified for nextyears Gold Cup! The Altar Bunnies(Gibb, Gibb, Gibb and Somerville) had along day too with just 89 points off of acombined handicap of 50.

I guess that it is a sign of the times butthere were regrettably just 155 players(123 of who were Nomads) in themorning and afternoon combined fieldsof our Gold Cup, this is less than wesometimes have at a monthly game!

On a similar vein where were most ofyou for the AGM, we had a patheticattendance of 48 people. Perhaps thatis why for the first time in our history

not one single item was raised underGeneral and the meeting was finishedin a record 20 minutes. However this isnot what its all about as this is the timefor you to air your grievances or yourqueries, rather than complaining toyour mates in the pub, after a few ofour Sponsors products.

The team for Nationals is virtuallyfinalised (in fact it usually selects itself)and will be announced at the Januarygame at Bryanston.

At this stage there are still 14 memberswhose subscriptions remain unpaid. Ifyou are experiencing financial problemsplease give the Captain a call and Im

sure that you will be able to comesome arrangement to pay off yoursubs.

at Observatory Golf Club from the 8th
