MISSOURI DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT DISTRICT ANNUAL REPORT 1. REGION 2. SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT 3. FISCAL YEAR PERIOD: IDENTIFICATION DISTRICT NAME (A-T) Northeast Missouri Solid Waste FROM JULY 1, 2012 TO JUNE 30, 2013 C Management District 4. (A) WHAT WASTE REDUCTION GOALS DID THE DISTRICT HAVE FOR THE MOST RECENTLY COMPLETED FISCAL YEAR AND WHAT ACTIONS DID THE DISTRICT TAKE TO ACHIEVE THESE GOALS? We wanted to increase education on the reduction of material that goes into the landfills. In order to work toward achieving this goal we participated in a booth at the Missouri State Fair to promote waste reduction and showcase items made in Missouri from post- consumer materials. We also participated in radio and television informational programs. A FY 2011 grant to install an outdoor classroom at the Early Childhood Development Facility in the Kirksville School District and an FY 2012 grant to start a recycling program in Lewis County C-1 School District was completed this year. The Kirksville School District is working on a FY 2013 grant for second outdoor classroom at the Primary School. Each of these grant will add environmentally friendly practices to the curriculum of the students. 4. (B) WHAT WASTE REDUCTION GOALS HAS THE DISTRICT SET FOR THE UPCOMING FISCAL YEAR? WHAT ACTIONS ARE PLANNED TO ACHIEVE THESE GOALS? PLEASE INCLUDE THE TYPES OF GRANT PROPOSALS THAT HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED TO ASSIST IN MEETING THESE GOALS? Education at an early age remains important as we seek to decrease the amount of waste produced. We have not identified any specific "type" of grant proposal, all grant applications are evaluated equally to determine the best use of the dollars allocated. RECEiVED BY DEC -2 2013 SWMP

MISSOURI DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT DISTRICT ANNUAL REPORT

1. REGION 2. SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT 3. FISCAL YEAR PERIOD: IDENTIFICATION DISTRICT NAME (A-T) Northeast Missouri Solid Waste FROM JULY 1, 2012 TO JUNE 30, 2013

C Management District

We have not identified any specific "type" of grant proposal, all grant applications are evaluated equally to determine the best use of the dollars allocated .

5. (A) WHAT RECYCLING GOALS DID THE DISTRICT HAVE FOR THE MOST RECENTLY COMPLETED FISCAL YEAR AND WHAT ACTIONS DID THE DISTRICT TAKE TO ACHIEVE THESE GOALS?

We wanted to see projects that would increase drop-off sites and/or curbside pick-up. There were no new grants to increase these however; there was a grant with a school district and one with a community that extended from the past year that increased drop off sites.

MO 780-1989 (05-12) Page 1 of8

5. (B) WHAT RECYCLING GOALS DOES THE DISTRICT HAVE FOR THE UPCOMING FISCAL YEAR? WHAT ACTIONS DOES THE DISTRICT PLAN TO ACHIEVE THESE GOALS? PLEASE INCLUDE THE TYPES OF GRANT PROPOSALS THAT HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED TO ASSIST IN MEETING THESE GOALS.

We are working to develop collection sites for glass as there is currently none in our district.

We have not identified any specific "type" of grant proposal, all grant applications are evaluated equally to determine the best use of the dollars allocated.

6. (A) WHAT RESOURCE RECOVERY GOALS DID THE DISTRICT HAVE FOR THE MOST RECENTLY COMPLETED FISCAL YEAR AND WHAT ACTIONS DID THE DISTRICT TAKE TO ACHIEVE THESE GOALS?

We had no specific resource recovery goal aside from increasing all recycling rates in the district.

We feel the grants we administer all work toward increasing the recovery whether thru actual collections or thru making the public award of the possibilities.

6. (B) WHAT RESOURCE RECOVERY GOALS DOES THE DISTRICT HAVE FOR THE UPCOMING FISCAL YEAR AND WHAT ACTIONS DOES THE DISTRICT PLAN TO ACHIEVE THESE GOALS? PLEASE INCLUDE THE TYPES OF GRANT PROPOSALS THAT HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED TO ASSIST IN MEETING THESE GOALS.

We would like to attain the highest recovery rate possible in order to increase the markets for post-consumer products.
