“We cannot not
communicate!“
6
Paul Watzlawick, 5 Axiomes of Communication
Communication is everywhere around us
- all the time &...
7
...misunderstanding often is hot on the
heels of communication!
8
A bad communication...
9
...causes trouble
...is the reason for mistakes
...is demotivating
...costs a lot of energy
...costs a lot of time
...is bad for efficiency & effectivity
...is expensive!
?10
Because we underestimate complexity & importance
of communication 11
We all are MASTERS of COMMUNICATION! ?
12
we are communicating from our early childhood on
we are able to speak & write
we are able to listen & read
so we do not need to learn how to communicate!
...sometimes we are like MASTERS of DISASTER!
13
Too often we are trapped in the complex web of communication -
14
in our patterns!
Thanks to Greta for the picture!
What can we do?
15
First of all...
...change your mindset!
16
Communication is important!
We need to learn a lot about communication
We need to ask for help to better our communication
We need to stop concentrating only on technical skills
We need to start our training for a better communication
17
That´s what we all know:
18
The oldest parts of communication are 4.5
billion years old!
19
The human being is 4.5 million years old,
the modern human being (as we are) only 40,000 years!

How many times have you thought about your body language & its impact on others?

I am okay -you are okay!

What happens in the chain of
communication...
26
the personal filters are very individual (sender/receiver)…
...and mostly unknown to receiver AND to the sender!

Explain exactly your point of view
for a better understanding!
28
Helpful tip for the sender:
Ask helpful questions, if there is a huge scope for
your interpretation!
29
Helpful tip for the receiver:
Non-violent communication
30
The smart way of communication -with more space for respectful
understanding
Don´t put yourself as the measure of all
things!Talk about your impression, your feelings and help with your ideas to improve the situation!
31
Express it with your words!
Show appreciation!
Each team member - needs to know the personal value to the team
- should enjoy working in the team
- should feel like being a part of the team
-should feel well in the team!
32
The take-aways:Communication is a complex and important topic!
We are no Masters of communication!
Invest in better communication! It will save time and money!
“I am okay - you are okay“ is the only useful mindset!
Take time to describe exactly your point of view / impression/ etc.!
Ask questions to avoid misunderstandings!
Think about non-violent communication!
Show appreciation!
33
34
Communication is about feelings & emotions!
It is about the human inside of you!
“Do the right things!“
Russ Ackoff
35
And then try to do them right!
Thank you very much!
