Dear Parishioners, Trinity Sunday is often dreaded by priests, because we have to find some way of speaking about the Ineffable without detracting from It. An impossible task on the one
hand, but one which must be done, on the other. Blaise Pascal, in a mystical experience of life-changing power, said the Trinity lies beyond the powers of the philosophers' merely human thinking, and can be approached only by the "coeur", the believing, trusting heart, which thinks in a higher and greater way. He wrote some words on a sheet of paper, half poetry half prose, expressing his encounter with the Trinity revealed in and through Jesus Christ, and which he kept in his jacket pocket all his life to look at and reexamine from time to time: "God of Abraham, God of Isaac, God of Jacob. Not of the philosophers and scholars. Certitude, peace, joy. God of Jesus Christ. God of Jesus Christ....Joy, Joy, joy, tears of joy...."
A blessed feast of the Holy Trinity!

Refection We ought to pray God fervently to increase in us every day the light and heat of His goodness. St Philip Neri
The life of prayer is not the result of a technique, but a gift we receive. St Jane Frances de Chantal used to say, "The best method of prayer is not to have one, because prayer is not obtained by artifice" - by technique, we would say today - "but by grace." There is no "method" of praying, in the sense of a set of instructions or procedures we merely have to apply in order to pray well. Though prayer is a gift God gives freely, we do need to understand how to receive it.

CONTINUOUS EXPOSITION & ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT AT SAINT ELIZABETH’S CHAPEL
Our world needs prayer, especially at this time. Now that restrictions are easing in terms of church access, and to encourage people to pray, the community of the Brisbane Oratory in Formation invite you to come and pray before Our Eucharistic Lord during the next twelve weeks when we will have continuous Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from the Vigil of Pentecost, Saturday 30 May, until the feast of Our Lady’s Assumption into heaven, Saturday 15 August, at Saint Elizabeth’s chapel, Effingham Street, Tarragindi.
There are family hours for parents who would like to bring young children without having to worry about disturbing another adorer’s silence. Of course, there is an expectation for these hours to still
be as silent as possible, but hopefully it will encourage young families to come to pray.
The week-day hours of Adoration at Saint Elizabeth’s chapel have been filling steadily, which is wonderful. There are still some hours over the weekend that need an adorer. These hours are listed below. If you’re interested in adoring at any of the following hours, either just this weekend, or regularly for the next twelve weeks, please email [email protected] or text/phone 0492 987 132. Friday 5th June - 5pm, 6pm, 9pm, 11pm, midnight Saturday 6th June - 1pm, 4pm, 5pm, 6pm, 8pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight Sunday 7th June - 1am, 6am, 7am, 8am, 9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight Protocols will need to be followed so more information will be forwarded to you once you have registered. After this you can confirm your participation and we will confirm your hour of choice. At this time, the Oratory Fathers and Brothers invite you to join with us in praying for the full restoration of the public celebration of Mass and the Sacraments. We’d be most grateful, too, if you can pray for the successful establishment of the Brisbane Oratory, and for Oratorian vocations, alongside your own needs and intentions.
Let us forever adore the Most Holy Sacrament!

SPIRITUAL COMMUNION A spiritual communion is a devotional practice whereby we exercise the mind and heart in desiring to receive Christ in the Holy Eucharist, either as a preparation for participation in the Mass, or when it is not possible to receive Holy Communion. Since Christ himself is the ultimate goal of every human desire, the value of a well made spiritual communion is very great. "When you do not receive Communion and you do not attend Mass, you can make a spiritual communion, which is a most beneficial practice; by it the love of God will be greatly impressed upon you." (St Teresa of Avila, the Way of Perfection, Ch35). St John Vianney taught that making a spiritual communion has an effect like that of blowing on embers to make them flame up again, so the love of God flames up in the heart by means of the spiritual communion. The most generally known form is that of St Alphonsus de Liguori:
"My Jesus, I believe that You are truly present in the Blessed Sacrament. I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, please enter spiritually into my soul. I welcome you, I love and adore You, never permit me to be separated from You. Amen."
WE PRAY FOR:-Those who are recently deceased:
Father Jonathan ROBINSON, Cong. Orat., Frances NINNES, William (Bill) KEEN, Doris HUEZO, Joy CULLEN, Solange de ROBILLARD and Maria DALL’ALBA.
Sr M Raymond RSM, Gaynor KANE and John MOSS. Those who are sick: Ksenia BORODIN, Rex BOWEN, Verna BOWEN, Clare CLARK, Duncan CARSTENS, Ruth Mary DALY, Sylvia DE LUCA, Shannon EMSLIE, Mark FARRAH, Jane FARRELL, Maria FARRELL, Bryan FITZPATRICK, Joan FLEW, Anne FRANETTOVICH, Gwen GAIR, Gloria GARR, Bronte GREER, Brent HILL, Marlene JOHNSTON, Tony LEVICK, Ben McFADDEN
((Ireland) Marie MITCHELL, Barbara MASON, Fr Ron MOLLISON, Mila PICKARD, Ron ROFE, Joan ROONEY, Joan RYAN, Rosa Maria SANTOS, Joan TATHEM, Norma TORPEY, Josephine & Bill WRIGHT and Matthew ZEMEK.
All the faithful departed.
Please call the Parish Office to have names placed on any of the
lists above or to remove someone who is now well.
ACT OF PERFECT CONTRITION
Through an act of Perfect Contrition you can receive the forgiveness of your sins outside of confession, even mortal sins, provided that you determine yourself to correct your life and make a firm resolution to go to
sacramental confession as soon as you can, when it becomes possible. Remember, these are extraordinary measures only, for times when a priest is truly not available to you.
Perfect Contrition is sorrow and detestation of sin arising out of the love of God. One way of exciting this contrition in our hearts is by considering the passion of Jesus Christ and making acts of love for Him. We can also think of the infinite love which God has for us, and express sorrow in our heart in
the presence of this great love which we have offended.
O my God, I am heartily sorry for all the sins of my life simply because by them I have offended You and Your infinite love. I desire never to offend You again. Grant that my soul may enter into Your grace, and remain united to You forever. Amen.
The Most Holy Trinity Year A, 6th/7th June, 2020
MASS READINGS First Reading: Exodus 34: 4-6, 8-9
With the two tablets of stone in his hands, Moses went up the mountain of Sinai in the early moring as the Lord had commanded him. And the Lord descended in the form of a cloud, and Moses stood with him there.
He called on the name of the Lord. The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, ‘Lord, Lord, a god of tenderness and compassion, slow to anger, rich in kindness and faithfulness.’
And Moses bowed down to the ground at once and worshipped. ‘If I have indeed won your favour, Lord,’ he said ‘let my Lord come with us, I beg. True, they are a headstrong people, but forgive us our faults and our sins, and adopt us as your heritage.’
The Word of the Lord
Response: Thanks be to God
Responsorial Psalm (Said by all)
You are blest, Lord God of our fathers.
Glory and praise forever! Blest your glorious holy name.
Glory and praise forever!
You are blest in the temple of your glory. Glory and praise forever!
You are blest on the throne of your kingdom. Glory and praise forever!
You are blest who gaze into the depths. Glory and praise forever!
You are blessed in the firmament of heaven. Glory and praise forever!
Second Reading: 2 Corinthians 13: 11-13
Brothers, we wish you happiness; try to grow perfect; help one another. Be united; live in peace, and the god of love and peace will be with you.
Greet one another with the holy kiss. All the saints send you greetings.
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
The Word of the Lord Response: Thanks be to God
Gospel Acclamation: Alleluia, alleluia! Glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. To God who is, who was, and who is to come. Alleluia!
Gospel: John 3: 16-18
Jesus said to Nicodemus, ‘God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, So that everyone who believes in him may not be lost but may have eternal life. For God sent his Son into the world not to condemn the world but so that through him the world might be saved.
No one who believes in him will be condemned; But whoever refuses to believe is condemned already, because he refused to believe In the name of God’s only Son.’
The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ
Memorial Acclamation: Number Three Save us, Saviour of the world, for by your Cross and Resurrection you have set us free.
