(LPC) has worked on behalf of local artists. Our mission, “to bring beauty and culture to Madeline Island by promoting, exhibiting, educating, and selling the work of artists” has been made difficult due to the distancing required to avoid the spread of COVID-19. We have an excellent opportunity that we want to invite you to be a part of. We are in the process of creating a Madeline Island Artist Registry. The site will be a Google map that anyone can easily access online with a listing of artists who live on Madeline Island. Each artist will have his or her own pin on the map and will be listed by both their medium(s) and name. We are creating this opportunity to help Madeline Island artists sell their work directly to the public. Don’t worry – if you don’t have a studio, you can include information on how the public can buy or see your work or performance. The Artist Registry is not up and running yet, but check out the link to an artist map used in Chicago. It will give you an idea of the possibilities offered to you as an artist. http://www.chicagopublicartgroup.org/public-art-map Some features you can put onto your site include, but are not limited to: a video of your artist statement; up to ten images of your work; contact information; your studio location or other studios that carry your art; and if you give lessons. If you are interested, please fill out the enclosed application and return it to us by July 15, 2020. As soon as we start receiving applications we will begin creating the Registry. If you have any questions, feel free to call Barbara With at 715.209.5471 for more information. We at the La Pointe Center are very excited about this new opportunity and hope you will be too. We would love to include you in our Registry. And spread the word to other artists!
