    Passage 2:

    The comforts and conveniences of modern life have brought with them problems that did not exist in

    the days of simpler living. Machinery which operates on electricity made by burning coal or petroleum is

    used to process raw materials taken from the earth. Gases from the burning fuels are sent into the air.

    The comforts and conveniences of modern life have brought with them problems that did not exist in

    the days of simpler living. Machinery which operates on electricity made by burning coal or petroleum is

    used to process raw materials taken from the earth. Gases from the burning fuels are sent into the air.
