1. Background The purpose of this document is to provide more details around the fourth release of 2019, i.e. 2019 Release 4. This document will provide the details about the new functionality and enhancements to the DDD Dashboard.

2. Dashboard Updates

Educator Summary The “Subjects Teaching” section and the “Specialisation Subjects” section, have been swapped for better flow of information. In this order, the user will attain information about the educator first and then information about the educator in the school.

DDD Dashboard Website User experience has been enhanced with a new way of accessing the dashboard. When user types in www.dbedashboard.co.za, they will be redirected to the www.dbedashboard.co.za/Home page where they can view the latest news and information. From here, user can navigate to the login page by clicking on the Logon buuton as shown below in figure.

Grade 12 Learner Intervention Planning With Grade 12 now being included in these reports, the report parameters have been updated to include Grade 12.

The user is now able to view the Grade 12 learner intervention status and the pie chart that indicates grade 12 learners with recommended intervention, on the dashboard.

Password Policy In efforts to avoid malicious user account attacks, the new password policy complexity has been increased, making it difficult for any attackers to access DDD user accounts. The “Change Password” screen states the new minimum requirements needed to update your new password (as shown below)

This policy also identifies passwords that are considered weak and notifies the user as shown in the below screen.

3. Report Updates

Learner Intervention Planning Reports The Learner Intervention Planning Report is now available for grade 12. Grade 12 Educators can now have informed and data driven conversation on how to better support learner towards improving their performance.

The learner intervention planning report has also been enhanced with addition of the “No. SUBJECT FAILED” column that shows the number of subjects each learner has failed in the term the report is downloaded for. This enhancement provides a quick analysis to department officials as it displays a holistic view on learner performance.

Learner Intervention Planning Summary Reports The learner intervention planning summary report has also been enhanced with an addition of a new column, “No. Learners Failing Home Language” which shows the total number of learners who failed their home language subject in the selected entity.

Schools Loaded Report Two of the columns (namely the “SA-Sams School Type” and “Learner Count” column headings, as you currently know them), on the schools loaded report have been amended, to be clearer and more descriptive. The “SA-Sams School Type” column heading will now display as “SA-SAMS School Type” and the “Learner Count” column heading will now display as “Learner Count From Submissions”.

Learner Chart Report The Learner Chart Report has been enhanced with an addition of a new column, “FET Pass Quality”. This column shows the pass level received as stored in SA-SAMS, making it easy for FET curriculum officials to track, profile and support learners towards achieving bachelor pass. User will no longer be required to manually apply pass level rules as this will be available immediately on the download. This column will be displayed and populated when downloading Learner Chart Report for Grade 10,11 and 12. The “FET Pass Quality” column will also appear when the user downloads the Learner Chart Report for all grades, but the column will be left blank for non-FET grades.

In addition to this, the “Learner Average Required Subject “column and the “No. Failed Subjects” columns have been swapped for easier flow of information in effort to make the data flow easier at just a glance.
