Overview
Network manageabilityThe ED-DCX-B has a single domain and is managed as a singleelement with the Enterprise Fabric Connectivity Manager(EFCM)/Fabric Manager (FM). The ED-DCX-B responds to its own IPaddress and appears as a separate entity to the Telnet protocol andSNMP.
All management interfaces, such as Telnet, Web Tools, standardscompliant SMI-S, and Management Server, support a port N within blade M naming scheme.
The ED-DCX-B supports SNMPv1 and SNPMv3. When SNMPdevices send SNMP messages to a management console runningSAN management software, the information is stored in amanagement information base (MIB). Fabric OS v6.0.0 supports thelatest Fibre Alliance Fibre Channel Management (FCMGMT) andStorage Management Initiative (SMI) MIBs, which allow common
information necessary for management software to provideinformation to a SAN administrator. Refer to the EMC Connectrix BSeries Fabric OS MIB Reference Guide for additional MIB information.

Note: Read the safety notices before installation ( Conventions used in thisdocument ).
The following steps are required to ensure correct installation andoperation:
1. Provide a space that is 14 rack units (14U) high, 61.29 cm (24.09in.) deep, and 43.74 cm (17.22 in.). 1U is equal to 4.45 cm (1.75 in.).
2. Plan to install the ED-DCX-B with the nonport side facing theair-intake aisle. The ED-DCX-B can be installed facing eitherdirection, if serviceability and cooling requirements are met.
3. Plan for cable management before installing the chassis(Managing cables ).
Cables can be managed in a variety of ways, such as by routingcables below the chassis, to either side of the chassis, throughcable channels on the sides of the cabinet, or by using patchpanels.
4. Ensure that dedicated electrical branch circuits with the followingcharacteristics are available:
200 240 VAC, 5060 Hz (two branch circuits)
110 - 120 VAC, 50-60 Hz (up to four branch circuits) Two cables for 200 - 240 VAC service; up to four cables for 110
