Select an item below and the setting screen for that item will be displayed. Use $^ toadjust the setting. After you have completed setting up the course, select “OK” andpress A to return to the Main Select Menu.

Select the number of laps to race.Depending on the course and typeof race, the number of laps available for selection will vary.Select “Fixation” to set the defaultnumber of laps.

Select the number of cars appearingin the race.

✽ In Vs Battle Mode select “PlayerOnly” for a battle between just the2 players.

TYPE

Complete the race against computer controlled cars, passingthrough the checkpoints before the time limit reaches zero. Adjustthe race settings from the Main Select Menu and start the race.

After the race, if you manage to placewithin the top 10 rankings and the number of laps are set at “Fixation,”you will be able to enter your name upto 3 letters.

If the time limit reaches zero before you pass through thecheckpoint – game over!

There are four series (four races in a series) to compete in, a totalof 16 races. Acquire points in each race and aim to win the championship.

Select the data you wish to use. If this is your first game, select“NEW GAME” and enter your name using up to 3 letters.

To register to race online you must first acquire a SEGA.COM Username andPassword✽ by logging on to SEGA.COM with a PC, by using the latest versionof the SEGA Dreamcast Web Browser, or by selecting "Homepage" from yourDaytona USA game disc.✽ If you already have a Sega.com Username and Password, select "Homepage" from your

Daytona USA game disc to acquire a Key File.

Compete in a race over the Internet with 2 to 4 players. You must complete User Registrationand download a Key File to your VMU in order to compete.

✽ Only one person can play per Dreamcast.✽ The contents of the Internet are constantly updated, differences with this manual may

occur.

Select “NETBATTLE.”

The Dial-up Screen will bedisplayed. To dial-up follow the directions on-screen.Press A to dial-up and proceed tostep 4.

The Handle Name Screen will bedisplayed. If this is your first timeparticipating in Network Battle,register your handle name here. Ifyou have already registered yourhandle name, select the handlename and proceed to point 5.

In any Main or Team lobby you can chat with other users using the virtual on-screen orDreamcast hardware keyboard. To search for other online users, select the “search forother users” button located on the “Entrance” Screen, and type the handle of the useryou are looking for. For chat information, see INTERNET & CHAT DISCLAIMER on p. 30.

The Server Select Screen will bedisplayed. Select a server from thelist. Choosing the server closest toyour home will ensure the bestpossible game experience. Onceselected, proceed to point 6.

The Entrance Screen will bedisplayed. Choose “Select a Lobby”to display a list of available lobbies,and then select an experience levelthat suits your racing style. Pleaseproceed to step 7.

Lobby Select Select a lobby fromthe list.

The Lobby will be displayed. Select“Join A Team,” to display teamsavailable for selection. If you join ateam you will become a “Member”of that team.

Select “Create Team” to create ateam. In this case you will becomethe Host of that team.

The Team Lobby Screen will bedisplayed. Set up the race. Hostcan select a car and the course.Members can only select a car.

The Race End Menu is displayed at theend of each race. Select and enter“EXIT” to return to the Title Screen.

Adjust the amount of time when passing through a checkpoint.

Select “ON” to display the lap time while racing.

Select “ON” to display the time difference with the fastest lap.

Select the default view type.

Select Stereo or Mono sound output.

Adjust the background music volume.

Adjust the sound effects volume.

Listen to the background music.

Listen to the sound effects.

Enable or disable the jump pack.

Save the adjustments made and return to the Option MenuScreen.

View saved replay files. Select the fileyou wish to load from the Memory CardSelect Screen. To end the replay, push the Start Buttonto display the Pause Menu, select“REPLAY EXIT” and push A.

Adjust the various game settings. Select an item to display itssetting screen. After completing adjustments, select and enter“OK” to return to the Mode Select Menu.

Dinosaur CanyonThis course winds its way through a deepcanyon. The course takes its name from agiant dinosaur fossil. An intermediatecourse.

DAYTONA KEY FILETo race online you must acquire a Key File. Below are the steps needed to get a Key File:

● From the Homepage, select Register for Net Battle.● On the registration page enter your Sega.com Username and Password. If you do not

have a Sega.com Username and Password, select create.● After you have entered the correct Username and Password you can then download a

Key File to your VMU (4 blocks required).● Pull the left trigger on your Dreamcast controller and select "Exit to Game". Now you

are ready for online competition!

Rin Rin RinkDreamcast OriginalA course built on a swamp, it con-sists of a series of curves, then along straightaway. You will needquick acceleration for this course.

Mermaid LakeDreamcast OriginalA figure 8 course. The most difficultpart of this course is the final corner.

HORNETThis car has a balance between grip,acceleration and maximum speed. This caris suitable for all courses.

GRASSHOPPERThis car has the best grip of all the cars, butthe level of acceleration and maximumspeed are poor. You are able to control thecar quickly while drifting.

FALCONA well rounded car with a high level of grip.This car is very easy to handle.

LIGHTNINGThis car has a high level of acceleration andmaximum speed but a low level of grip. Youcan’t be beaten on the straights but it’sdifficult to control the car around corners.
