Thematically, White’s work addresses concepts of mortality, eternity, permanence, impermanence, individuality and corporeality. Composer SeminarFriday, February 6, 1 p.m. Dance StudioFREE ADMISSIONZack Browning is a composer whose music has been described as “way-cool in attitude…speed-demon music” (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution) and “propulsive, giddy, rocking… a rush of cyclic riffs and fractured meters” (The New York Times). The Irish Times has proclaimed he is “bringing together the procedures of high musical art with the taste of popular culture.” Browning is an associate professor emeritus of music at the University of Illinois and director of the Salvatore Martirano Memorial Composition Award.

A deviously delicious Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi smash musical, Little Shop of Horrors has devoured the hearts of theatre goers for over 30 years. Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin) are the creative geniuses behind what has become one of the most popular shows in the world. The meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant he names “Audrey II” - after his coworker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II’s out-of-this-world origins and intent toward global domination!NOW FEATURING RESERVED SEATING!

The groups will perform a variety of selections that are representative of successful touring bands.

MarchOrchestra Concert Sunday, March 1, 2:30 p.m.Davidson Theater Enjoy an afternoon of music selected from the classics to modern repertoire. Our special guest will be Sara Tomarelli, the fabulous singer, who at age 16 is already carving out a career singing the new-romantic music of Il Divo, Andrea Bocelli and other classical-pop singers. She is not to be missed!

Instrumental ExtravaganzaThursday, March 12, 7:30 p.m.Davidson Theater

A showcase of our instrumental music students, we will feature the 75 member symphonic band playing colorful arrangements exclusive to the concert band. Our big band will then swing into the setting with some contemporary arrangements that highlight student soloists.

Patrons should arrive no less than 10 minutes prior to curtain time for seating. No seating after a performance begins except at the discretion of the house manager.

Symphonic Band ConcertThursday, May 7, 7:30 p.m. Davidson TheaterThe DSC Symphonic Band is honored to be among 70 ensembles from around the world invited to play a piece by a Valencian (Spain) composer during a 32-day period between April 14 and May 15, 2015. This event, called “Muestra Internacional de la Música Valenciana 2015,” will feature the fiery and passionate music of Spanish Composer Luis Serrano. The worldwide event is being sponsored by the society M. I. Academia de la Música Valenciana.

Brass Band of Central Florida Saturday, May 23Davidson TheaterFREE ADMISSION

The Brass Band of Central Florida, under the musical direction and baton of Chad Shoopman, features Central Florida’s finest brass and percussion musicians performing in the British brass band style with a uniquely American twist. The organization has an active performance schedule, including worldwide concerts and competitions. The concert will also present the Youth Brass Band of Central Florida, an organization created to include the talented youth of Central Florida within the Brass Band’s organization.

Sail off on a fantastic musical excursion when a band of comical pirates lands at Daytona Beach looking for an expert digger to join their crew. Braid Beard and his mates enlist young Jeremy Jacob, as they try to find the perfect spot to bury their treasure. Jeremy finds that adventuring can be lots of fun, but also learns that love and home are treasures you can’t find on any map! The whole family will love this delightful and swashbuckling musical adventure!

Come dressed like a pirate and enter our pre-show costume contest for children and adults of ALL ages!
