• Long tradition of teaching and education

Project purpose

▪ Identification and development of Neretva gastronomy as important and recognizable tourist resource

▪ Need for quality manifastation on local level in tourist preseason

▪ Motivating young people for professional development and work in tourism

▪ Developing team work and enterpreneurship through project

▪ Strengthening cooperation between private and public sector on local level

Project aims

1. Encouraging young people to choose their profession in tourism and hospitality

2. Strengthening vocational competences of future cooks

3. Development and promotion of destination‘ s traditional gastronomy

4. Promotion of ecological agricultural production5. Presentation of rich cultural heritage6. Strengthening tourist offer through joint actions of

public and private sector

Implementation of the project - activities

1. Educations for project team members about traditional cousine

2. Workshop “Traditional Neretva cousine”

3. Educational programme “ Create your own taste of Dalmatia”

4. Festival of Neretva Gastronomy

Project team educations

▪ Activities which prepared project team for the main event

▪ Learning how to prepare some of the most popular dishes from Neretva county ( lectures and workshops)

▪ Purpose: acquire the knowledge and skills needed to participate in the event

Workshop “Traditional Neretva cousine”

▪ Workshop for students which are not included in tourism and hospitality.

▪ Guest: master chef

▪ Presentation and tasting of most famous local dishes

“Create your own taste of Dalmatia”

▪ Educational - entertainment program for elementary school pupils with the aim of introducing tourism – hospitality programs that school offers

▪ Lecture on healthy Mediterranean diet

▪ Meeting with the project team and making cold appetizers

▪ Tasting of healthy food

Festival of Neretva Gastronomy

▪ Main project event

▪ Culinary manifestation at the main town square

▪ Preparing traditional dishes and sharing with visitors

▪ Rich cultural art programme

Cooperation of vocational schools

Teams from guest schools prepared and offered traditional dishes from their area

Cooperation with local community

▪ Project included 16 non-school teams (associations, institutions and caterers)

▪ They all prepared dishes voluntarily and offered to visitors for free

▪ Hospitality – important tourist resource

▪ Strength of team work

▪ Cultural associations, music groups and individual performerspresented rich cultural heritage

Project results

▪ Involvement of a large number of students in project activities

▪ Synergies of private sector, public sector and local community

▪ Larger interest for Tourism and hospitality among potential students

▪ Development of student`s specific competences

▪ Enriching the tourist offer of the City through a quality manifestation in the tourist preseason
