AT THE TWO UP SCHOOL…

A few kilometres outside Kalgoorlie. In the old days it was the childrens’ job to climb the trees and keep a lookout for the police…It is only played on ANZAC Day now, but in the past people have lost all their money homes and families gambling on Two Up…

Page 15: Day 4 - Wattle Grove Primary School - Year 7 Kalgoorlie Camp 2013

The ladies of Kalgoorlie got together and insisted Two Up was not played on Pay Day, so they had a chance to get the money they needed for the family

Page 16: Day 4 - Wattle Grove Primary School - Year 7 Kalgoorlie Camp 2013

Sharon explains how Two Up is played and its history

Page 17: Day 4 - Wattle Grove Primary School - Year 7 Kalgoorlie Camp 2013

The students had some play money to play with…when you lost all your money you had to go and watch from the Loser’s Seats

Page 18: Day 4 - Wattle Grove Primary School - Year 7 Kalgoorlie Camp 2013

Shiva flips the two coins to see if it is Heads or Tails or another throw…

Page 19: Day 4 - Wattle Grove Primary School - Year 7 Kalgoorlie Camp 2013

Those who choose Tails hold the money until after the throw…

Page 20: Day 4 - Wattle Grove Primary School - Year 7 Kalgoorlie Camp 2013

Some of the people on the loser’s seats still have a smile on their faces…

Page 21: Day 4 - Wattle Grove Primary School - Year 7 Kalgoorlie Camp 2013

Zaid and Shiva all smiles towards the end of the game…

Page 22: Day 4 - Wattle Grove Primary School - Year 7 Kalgoorlie Camp 2013

And the winner is…Peace, all smiles as she holds up her ill gotten gains…

Page 23: Day 4 - Wattle Grove Primary School - Year 7 Kalgoorlie Camp 2013

Sharon reminds the students that gambling can become an addiction and that there are very few real winners…as they found out… Two Up can only be play legally on ANZAC Day, where it is a tradition of the diggers…
