    Like any other computer application,

    in order to use Microsoft Access, you

    must first install it.

    1. Verify that your system meets the basic

    requirements for Access. You'll need:

    > at least a 500MHz or faster processor

    > at least 256MB of RAM> atl east 2GB of free hard disk space.

    2. Ensure that your operating system is up-to-

    date. You'll need Windows XP SP2 or later to

    run Access 2007. It's a good idea to apply all

    security updates and hot fixes to your system

    before installing access by visiting

    3. Insert the Office CD into your CD-ROM drive.The installation process will begin

    automatically and ask you to wait while the

    system prepares the Installation Wizard.

    4. The next step of the process will prompt youto enter your product key and (optionally) a

    referral code.

    5. if you'd like to install the entire Office suite (or

    you're using an Access-only CD), you canchoose "Install Now" on the next screen. If

    you'd like to customize your installation, click

    "Customize" instead.

    Different Ways to Start MS Access

    There are various ways you can open MicrosoftAccess. It gets launched like the usual products you

    have probably been using. As such, to start this

    program, you may do any of the following:

    Double click the Access icon from the Desktop

    or Start menu

    Click Start > type msaccess.exe Click Start > All Programs > Ms Office > Access

    When Access 2007 opens, it displays the Getting Started

    interface which is divided in various sections.

    The top section displays a long bar also called the title bar.

    Title Bar

    The middle area of the

    title bar displays the

    name of theapplication: Microsoft

    Access.

    On the right side of the

    title bar, there are three

    system buttons thatallow you to minimize,

    maximize, restore, or

    close Microsoft Access.

    Under the title bar, there

    is another bar with aHelp button on the right

    side.

    The title bar starts on the left side

    with the Office Button :

    If you position the mouse on it, a tool tip would appear:

    When clicked, the Office Button displays a menu:

    As illustrated, the

    Button allows you to

    perform the routine

    Windows operations of

    a regular application,

    including creating a

    new database, opening

    an existing database,saving an object, etc.

    On its right side, the Office Button displays a (short)

    object called the Quick Access Toolbar .

    If you want to hide the Quick Access toolbar, you

    can right-click it and click Remove Quick Access

    Toolbar.

    By default the Quick Access toolbar is equipped with

    three buttons: Save, Undo, and Redo.

    On the right side of the Quick Access toolbar, there is

    the Customize button with a down-pointing arrow. If

    you click this button, a menu would appear:

    The role of this button

    is to help you decide

    what buttons to

    display on the Quick

    Access toolbar.

    To add a button to the

    Quick Access toolbar,click the Customize

    button and click the

    desired button from

    the menu.

    On the right side of the Quick Access toolbar, there is

    the Customize button with a down-pointing arrow. If

    you click this button, a menu would appear:

    If the available buttons arenot enough or if you do

    not see a button you want,

    you may:

    click the MoreCommands button; or

    right-click the Quick

    Access toolbar and click

    Customize Quick AccessToolbar

    Any of these actions would

    open the Access Options

    dialog box:

    To add a command, click it in the middle list and click Add. Once you

    have selected the desired options, click OK.
