Davis Genealogy Club March 2012 Getting Ready for the 1940 Census : Searching Without a Name Index Speaker: Steve Morse Genealogy Search Expert Genealogists are filled with anticipation! The 1940 U.S. Census will be released on April 2, 2012. However, it will not have a name index for up to six months after opening day. Because the census is organized by Enumeration Districts (EDs), an address needs to be converted to an ED before the search can be focused. Steve Morse’s useful One‐Step Website contains numerous tools for obtaining EDs. Which tools to choose and how to use them will be explained in this free presentation. Be among the first to find yourself or family members in the 1940 census! Steve Morse is a genealogy expert whose award‐winning One‐Step Website is used by genealogists throughout the world. In his other life, Morse is a computer professional best known as the architect of the Intel 8086 (granddaddy of today's Pentium processor). THE DAVIS GENEALOGY CLUB LIBRARY AND MEETINGS ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AND GUESTS ARE WELCOME. MONDAY, MARCH 26, 2012 1 PM DAVIS SENIOR CENTER 646 A STREET, DAVIS DavisGenealogy.org
