Prayer of Confession
Merciful God, your Son blessed the meek of the earth. Yet we confess our rejection of
meekness. We have reacted with anger, accused with bitterness, and insisted on our own
way. Forgive us, we pray. Help us renounce the way of wrath, so that we will, in all
things, respond with kindness and love; through Christ our Lord, we pray. Amen.
Song of Forgiveness
O Lord Have Mercy Allen Pote
Words of Assurance
Pastor: Hear the good news: Christ died for us while we were yet sinners; that proves
God’s love toward us. In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.
People: In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.
All: Glory to God. Amen.
Psalm 63
My Soul Is Thirsting Rawn Harbor
Refrain: All
Choir: O God, you are my God, whom I seek; for you my flesh pines and my soul thirsts like
the earth, parched, lifeless and without water. Refrain: All
Choir: Thus have I gazed toward you in the sanctuary to see your power and your glory,
for your kindness is a greater good than life; my lips shall glorify you. Refrain: All
Choir: Thus will I bless you while I live; lifting up my hands, I will call upon your name.
As with the riches of a banquet shall my soul be satisfied, and with exultant lips my
mouth shall praise you. Refrain: All
Choir: You are my help, and in the shadow of your wings I shout for joy. My soul clings fast
to you; your right hand upholds me. Refrain: All

New Testament Reading Colossians 3:1-14
So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated
at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on
earth, for you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your
life is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him in glory.
Put to death, therefore, whatever in you is earthly: fornication, impurity, passion, evil desire,
and greed (which is idolatry). On account of these the wrath of God is coming on those who
are disobedient. These are the ways you also once followed, when you were living that life.
But now you must get rid of all such things–anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive language
from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have stripped off the old self with
its practices and have clothed yourselves with the new self, which is being renewed in
knowledge according to the image of its creator. In that renewal there is no longer Greek and
Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and free; but Christ is all and
in all!
As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness,
humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint
against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
Lector: This is the Word of God for the people of God.
People: Thanks be to God!
Sermon Rev. Shane Page
Blessed Are the Meek and Discontented
Affirmation of Faith, No. 881 The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord:
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
the third day he rose from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Sacrament of Holy Communion
The Great Thanksgiving, The Hymnal, pages 15 and 16
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
…And so, with your people on earth and all the company of heaven we praise your name
and join their unending hymn:
Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
…And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ, we offer ourselves in
praise and thanksgiving as a holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christ's offering for us,
as we proclaim the mystery of faith. Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again.
…All honor and glory is yours, almighty Father, now and forever. Amen.

Amen.
