Best Practices of the College

Title of the Practice 1. Students Feedback on Institution

Holistic Approach

Goal:

Government First Grade College Davanagere has planned to sustain new

programmes. To enhance quality it wants to know about the requirements of the

students for their all all-round development. To satisfy this goal this institution

followed its own system of collecting feedback from the students on various

aspects of the college. The principle behind the collection of feedback is that the

past experiences are the best guide for taking the decisions in the best direction.

The Context:

The role, relevance and the success of policy measures for quality

assurance and sustenance were the main contextual issues to be addressed by

designing and implementing an effective feedback system. For the success of

policy decisions the institution has to create conducive environment. In this

context, the institution depends on feedback system.

The Practice:

The institution has adopted and implemented Feedback devised by the

department on college aspects such as: College library, Playground/Sports

facilities cultural activities NSS/NCC, cleanliness, Drinking water, washer

rooms, Reading room, Graveness redresses, Disbursal of Scholarships,

computer facilities, Remedial/Tutorial classes, canteen, Attitude of

Administrative staff, Availability of Principal in the college.

The college adopted students Feedback format giving observations on

Academic, Administrative and Extra-curricular activities. The Feedback

provides students and opportunity for giving their observations and suggestions

for further development and better results. The students can mention the

strength and weakness of the college and provide suggestions for further

improvement.

Evidence of Success:

After receiving the filled up feedback forms, Academic committee and

IQAC analyses the feedback of the students. The strength and weakness of the

college have been recorded and also suggestions from the students are noted.

Accordingly, the college takes measures and strategies for quality assurance and

enhancements. Library has been functioning and extended the working hours

for PG students. More physical facilities provided as per the suggestion of

students. Thus, the system of feedback has proved successful.

Problems Encountered:

In the beginning, students did not understand the importance of filling up

the feedback form. Some of them have psychological fears and hesitant to fill

up properly. This is the problem we encountered early. Later, we conveyed the

meetings with students and explained rationale behind filling up the feedback

form.

Resources Required: The resources may be required to implement this method.

Note: The students’ feedback on institution facilities give an opportunity to

overcome the problems faced by them. It had helped the institution to evolve

appropriate measures for quality education.
