Comprehension (1)(C.W)

Read the following passage and answer the questions:

A sharks' trainer

I'm Sarah Turner. I have an unusual job. I train sharks at the Sea Life

Centre. Sharks are amazing creatures and they are very clever. Lots of people

are scared of them, of course. I want to learn more about them so that I can

teach people not to be scared. Sharks live in huge tanks. You need to be

brave to dive with a video camera to film the sharks in the sea.

We teach sharks to touch a special button to get food. Every button is a

different colour. The sharks learn to recognize their button and press it with

their noses when they are hungry. We move the button around the tank so

that the sharks learn to follow them.

Sharks can understand and remember. They understand that one button

means "food", although it doesn't look like food. And when we put the

button in a different place, they still remember it.

I've learnt a lot about sharks' eating habits and routines. I've also learnt

that all sharks have different personalities. One of the young sharks here

likes to chase the bigger sharks. They also like to play with her food. Sharks

are not monsters. They are often clever, funny creatures.

A) Answer the questions:

1. Sarah Tuner wants to learn more about sharks.Discuss.

…………………………………………………………………………………

…………………………………………………………………………………

2. Mention one example from the text to prove that sharks can understand.

4. You need to be brave to( press the button - dive with a video camera to

film the sharks -chase the bigger sharks-play with the food).

was a very small metal door behind the huge letterbox.

Ahmed walked inside and pulled the door so hard that it was locked at

once. Hoda was looking for Ahmed when she heard her brother's cry. She

immediately ran to tell the postman, who hurried out to unlock the door.

flag. Some cities, groups or people have flags as well.

Flags are traditionally made of cloth. Usually, but not always, they are

the fly. Its height along the staff is called the hoist. Most flags are long in the
